Breaking smartly from the gates, the three-year-old gelding travelled smoothly in touch with the leaders before making his move inside the final furlong. Conjurer, ridden by Antony Raj S. and trained by B. Prithviraj, threw down a stiff challenge, but Wings of Fury had enough in hand to keep his rival at bay by three-quarters of a length, stopping the clock at 1:12.200.
All For Love (Yash Narredu for M. Narredu) finished a further five and a half lengths away in third, while Lucio and Azalea completed the placings. The quality of the opposition, coupled with the strong pace throughout, made the contest a true test for the up-and-coming three-year-olds.
The winner, by Top Class (USA) out of Dangal, is owned by Mr. Hemant S. Dharnidharka, Mr. Dinesh G. Virwani & Mr. Angad Singh representing Mukteshwar Rac LLP, and was bred at Mukteshwar Stud LLP. The performance underlined Wings of Fury’s potential to develop into a consistent sprinter-miler in the months ahead.
With this victory, Wings of Fury not only delivered on his promise but also gave his connections a significant triumph on Pune’s Special Race Day. Attention now shifts to the fifth race of the afternoon, The Nana Raghunath Salver, scheduled for 4:05 pm, which promises another competitive showdown.
