The third race of the Pune Meeting 2025 — The Janardhan Salver — produced a sharp performance from Liam (J: P. Trevor, T: Nazzak B Chenoy), who displayed grit and stamina to secure victory in front of a strong weekend crowd. The 1400-metre contest, run at 3:00 PM, carried a total purse of ₹5,50,000 and drew a competitive field of seasoned campaigners.
Breaking smartly from the gates, Liam settled well before asserting in the straight, pulling away to win by one and three-quarter lengths in a time of 1:26.823. The son of Planetaire(GB) out of Swan Maiden(USA) justified favouritism at odds of 1.40, showing why he remains a reliable force in this grade at Pune Racecourse.
Come September (J: C. Umesh, T: Narendra Lagad) kept on resolutely to claim second, a length and a half behind the winner. The 4-year-old filly, by Gusto(GB), produced a spirited run and confirmed she is ready to strike soon.
Third place went to Finch (J: Bhawani Singh, T: Vinesh), who closed well inside the final furlong to finish just three-quarters of a length adrift. The ever-consistent Believe (J: Mukesh Kumar, T: S. Waheed) followed in fourth, staying on without threatening the principals.
Among the others, Empower (J: T. S. Jodha, T: Nazzak B Chenoy) and Howlin Wolf (J: N. S. Parmar, T: M. K. Jadhav) were noted for their efforts despite finishing outside the frame.
With this win, Liam reaffirmed his ability to handle the Pune track and gave his connections another moment to celebrate at the monsoon meeting. As the Pune Races August 16 card unfolded, The Janardhan Salver added a touch of class to the afternoon programme, underlining the competitive spirit of the season.
Up next on the Pune Meeting 2025 card is the fourth race of the afternoon — The Su Chaliyo Plate — which promises another engaging contest as the action at Pune Racecourse continues to build on Pune Races August 16.
