Pune Races August 16 – Golden Guest Plate Result
The Pune Meeting 2025 – Fourth Day opened with fireworks as New Yorker (J: C. Umesh, T: Narendra Lagad) delivered a strong finishing kick to capture the Golden Guest Plate over 1000 metres. Stopping the clock at 0:59:087, the 4-year-old gelding by Arazán (IRE) – Powerhaus asserted his dominance in the day’s opening sprint, rewarding connections with a prize of ₹2,35,000.
Racing prominently from the jump, New Yorker accelerated inside the final furlong to draw clear by 1 3/4 lengths, leaving Samson (J: A. Prakash, T: Narendra Lagad) in second after a late rally, timed at 0:59:343. The consistent mare Mirae (J: A. Sandesh, T: Narendra Lagad) followed close behind in third at 0:59:385, separated by NK lengths.
We Still Believe (J: Aditya Waydande, T: S. Waheed) finished fourth, while Moment of Madness and You’re Gorgeous were further back. The veteran High Spirit closed out the field in 1:07:670.
The result marked a flying start to the day for trainer Narendra Lagad, who saddled the first three finishers in a dominant stable sweep. Owners Mr Kishore M. Dhingra, Mr Rajendra S. Lokhande, Mr Roopesh M. Kaul rep. Phantom Racing LLP, Mr Wahiid Ali Khan rep. Shahaawn Horses and Sports Pvt Ltd, Mr Pruthu K. Dayal, Mr Syed Mehmood Ahmed, and Mr Vishwajeet Vinayakrao Jadhav & Mr Ajay K. arora celebrated a memorable opener with their gelding’s confident display.
With The Golden Guest Plate decided, attention now turns to the The Mysore Race Club Trophy, the next race on the Pune Meeting 2025 card, promising another test of speed and strategy at Pune Racecourse.
