Race 1, The Caprisca Trophy, a Class V contest for Indian horses aged five years and over rated 1 to 26, kicked off at 12:20 PM over 1600 metres. Northbound (J: Aditya Waydande, T: P. S. Chouhan) delivered a commanding performance for owner Mr. Jaydev M. Mody representing J M Livestock Pvt. Ltd., crossing the finish line in 1:39.981 to claim a stylish victory.
From the gates, Northbound settled comfortably in mid-division before producing a well-timed surge in the final 400 metres. Displaying both tactical speed and stamina, the six-year-old gelding gained a decisive advantage in the home stretch, keeping rivals at bay with a strong, consistent gallop to the line.
Runner-up honours went to Yuletide (J: P. Trevor, T: Narendra Lagad), who pressed the winner throughout and finished just behind. The veteran The Flutist (J: C. S. Jodha, T: Himmat Singh) completed the trifecta with a solid third-place finish, crossing the line.
With The Caprisca Trophy concluded, the focus now turns to the Noble Prince Trophy at 12:50 PM, expected to provide more thrilling action for racing fans at the Royal Western India Turf Club.
