The Pune race result 17th July added another impressive winner to the opening day’s card as SILVER STRIKE produced a smart front-running performance to land the 3rd Race – The Season Opener Plate DIV II at Pune Racecourse on Friday, 17th July 2026. Conducted by the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC), the Class IV contest for horses rated 20 to 46 (0 to 19 eligible) was run over 1000 metres at 3:00 PM. Guided by K. Nazil, trained by Faisal A. Abbas, and owned by Mrs Seema Kamlesh Shah & Tasneem Hakim Lakdawala, SILVER STRIKE crossed the finish in 0:58.241 to secure a convincing success.
Breaking alertly from the gates, SILVER STRIKE settled into an ideal rhythm before increasing the tempo inside the final 300 metres. K. Nazil judged the pace perfectly, asking the gelding for his effort at just the right moment. The response was immediate as the winner maintained a strong gallop to keep the challengers at bay and record a well-earned victory.
STARIA, partnered by P. Trevor for trainer P. S. Chouhan, stayed on gamely to finish second in 0:58.436, while MAJESTIC WARRIOR, ridden by J. Chinoy and trained by Narendra Lagad, claimed third after another honest effort, clocking 0:58.522. The close margins between the leading trio reflected the competitive nature of the sprint.
The Pune Meeting now moves on to the 4th Race – The Columbia Plate, scheduled for 3:30 PM, with the afternoon’s programme continuing to build towards the feature events on the opening day.
