The Royal Western India Turf Club will come alive this Saturday, 13th September 2025, as the Pune Meeting 2025 stages a special race day packed with eight contests. With timings, distances, ratings, and prize money confirmed, the card promises a lively afternoon where seasoned campaigners and emerging talent will share the stage.
The opening event, The Colombiana Plate (Race 1), will be run at 01:10 PM over 2000 metres for Class V horses rated 1 to 26. Carrying a total purse of Rs.5,00,000, the race will feature a competitive line-up. Bhawani Singh partners Daianne for trainer Karthik Ganapathy, while Looking Like A Wow will be guided by Ramswarup under Subhag Singh’s watch. Silver Braid, with Aditya Waydande up for Imtiaz A. Sait, will add depth, as will Willy Wonkaa with K. Nazil riding for S. Waheed. The field is completed by Highground and Leo The Lion, both seeking to make their mark over the longer trip.
At 01:40 PM, The Conrad Hotels Trophy (Division II, Race 2) will be staged over 1000 metres for Class IV horses rated 20 to 46 (0 to 19 eligible). The race, offering Rs.5,50,000 in prize money, has attracted several eye-catching contenders. A. Sandesh will ride Abhicandra for Sanjay Kolse, while Aditya Waydande joins forces with Zephyr from Malesh Narredu’s yard. House of Lords will be steered by A. Prakash for Narendra Lagad. Supporting entries include Ekla Cholo, Menjou’s Moustache, Maratha Admiral, Regal Galleria, Youreforfame, and the evergreen Northern Singer.
The action continues at 02:20 PM with The Uttam Singh Trophy (Race 3), a Class III affair rated 40 to 66 (20 to 39 eligible) over 1800 metres, carrying Rs.6,50,000. P. Shroff will rely on Mansa Musa, to be piloted by S. Siddharth. Arrived, a promising 3-year-old chestnut colt, will be ridden by A. Sandesh for Nirad Karanjawala, while Imtiaz A. Sait saddles Treat, the mount of Neeraj Rawal. Veteran Zarak, partnered by K. Pranil for S. Waheed, rounds off the key names in the field.
At 03:00 PM, the day’s fourth event, The Aakriti Art Gallery Trophy (Race 4), will showcase Class II horses rated 60 to 86 (40 to 59 eligible) across 1400 metres, with a purse of Rs.8,36,250. Ardakan, trained by P. S. Chouhan with R. Ajinkya in the saddle, will line up against Ataash, to be guided by P. Trevor for Nazzak B. Chenoy. Azrinaz, a consistent performer from Karthik Ganapathy’s yard, will have A. Sandesh aboard, while Emperor Roderic will represent Shazaan Shah with Aditya Waydande up. The field also features Bubbly Boy, Celestial, Singer Sargent, Art Collector, Rambler, Mr Brainwash, and Ghirardelli.
The highlight of the afternoon will arrive at 03:40 PM with The Supreme Pune City Gold Cup (Race 5), a terms race over 1600 metres offering a rich Rs.15,00,000. Prasanna Kumar’s Siege Courageous, to be ridden by Akshay Kumar, looks to spearhead the challenge. P. Trevor takes the reins on Snowfall for trainer Aman Altaf Hussain, while P. Shroff sends out Jade with Vivek G. up. Completing the small but classy line-up will be Madam Rich, ridden by Prashant P. Dhebe for B. Prithviraj.
The sixth race, The Fourth Estate Trophy (Race 6), is set for 04:20 PM and will feature a 2000-metre maiden for 3-year-olds only, worth Rs.12,00,000. Karthik Ganapathy’s Chicago Chimes, with P. Trevor aboard, will attract attention, while Dallas Todywalla’s Commanchero will be ridden by N. Bhosale. Harrison, trained by Behram Cama and partnered by T. S. Jodha, is also in the mix. Other youngsters ready to test their stamina include Mighty Hero, Solidarity, Viking, Dexterity, Golden Dancer, Her Charge, and Seina.
The penultimate contest, The Conrad Hotels Trophy (Division I, Race 7), will go off at 05:00 PM over 1000 metres for Class IV horses rated 20 to 46 (0 to 19 eligible), with a stake of Rs.5,50,000. Scaramouche will be ridden by Aditya Waydande for Behram Cama, while Eloquent will have S. Mosin in the saddle for Shazaan Shah. The progressive Eastern Monarch will be steered by A. Sandesh for Sanjay Kolse. Additional names include Storm Cloud, Azure, Diligence, Rafael, Jet Typhoon, Mojo, and Red Merlot, all adding intrigue to the sprint.
The curtain will fall at 05:40 PM with The La Rondine Plate (Race 8), a 1400-metre Class IV contest for horses rated 20 to 46 (0 to 19 eligible) with a prize of Rs.5,50,000. Among the key runners will be Substantial, partnered by A. Sandesh for Nirad Karanjawala, and Wind Dancer, with P. Trevor riding for Dallas Todywalla. Bohemian Rhapsody, handled by K. Nazil for Hosidar Daji, is another interesting entry. Completing the diverse line-up are Believe, Come September, Howlin Wolf, Starseed, Remy Red, Alexandria, Windborne, Key Largo, Magical Star, Maysara, and Lord Murphy.
