The final race of the day at Pune Racecourse, Race 7 – The D. N. Zodge Plate, a Class III contest for Indian horses rated 40 to 66 over 1600 metres, produced a thrilling conclusion to the Special Race Day on Sunday, 19th October 2025. In a commanding display, Kavya (J: N. S. Parmar) secured victory for trainer M. K. Jadhav and owner Mr Prashant Nagar representing SKJ Thoroughbreds Pvt Ltd, crossing the line in 1:38:889. The three-year-old bay filly’s timing and acceleration proved decisive in this competitive field.
From the gates, Kavya settled just off the pace before unleashing a powerful turn of foot in the final 400 metres. Paring down the leaders with clinical precision, she surged past the front runners to claim a stylish and authoritative win, leaving the crowd impressed with her composure and finishing speed.
Runner-up honours went to Shirsa (J: S. G. Prasad, T: Sangramsinh N. Joshi), who finished 1:39:590, staying close to the winner throughout the home stretch but unable to match Kavya’s final burst. Black Thunder (J: Aditya Waydande, T: Rehanullah Khan) finished strongly to take third in 1:39:911, rounding off an exciting finale to the day’s racing.
With The D. N. Zodge Plate bringing the Special Race Day to a close, Pune racegoers were treated to a thrilling finale and will now look forward to the next major meeting at the Royal Western India Turf Club.
