The ninth day of Pune Race Club’s 2025 Meeting began in stylish fashion with the 1st Race — The Panamera Plate (Div II), a Class IV contest for Indian horses rated 20 to 46 (0 to 19 eligible), run over 1400 metres at 01:00 PM.
In commanding form, Seneca (J: A. Sandesh) delivered a decisive performance for trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha, stopping the clock at 1:27:658. Racing in the colours of Mr Haider Soomar, Mrs Rashmee A. Amersey (rep. So Blest Trading Co. Pvt Ltd), Mr Kishore P. Rungta, Mr Vivek S. Jain, Mr Saleem Fazelbhoy, and Mr Gautam Lala (rep. Gainsville Stud & Agl Farm Pvt. Ltd), the winner set the tone for what promises to be an exciting afternoon at Pune.
Breaking smartly from the gates, Seneca settled comfortably in mid-division before jockey A. Sandesh began his move approaching the final turn. With measured acceleration down the home stretch, the bay gelding surged ahead, fending off late challenges to assert his dominance in the final furlong.
It was a professional display of poise and control that underscored both the horse’s improving form and the stable’s confidence in him.
Remy Red (J: S. Mosin, T: Shazaan Shah) chased resolutely to finish second, showing commendable consistency. Empower (J: T. S. Jodha, T: Nazzak B. Chenoy) filled the minor placing in third after a late bid for the frame.
With the curtain-raiser delivering such a polished performance from Seneca, anticipation now turns to the next event — The Gruezi Plate, scheduled for 01:40 PM, as the Pune racing action gathers pace through the afternoon.
