Positano outstays Arkadian and Dyf to land the Maharaja’s Gold Cup at Bangalore Turf Club

Positano leads the charge to win The Maharaja’s Gold Cup at Bangalore Turf Club, ridden by Akshay Kumar in DT Racing colours, followed closely by Arkadian and Dyf in a thrilling 2200m finish.

The spotlight firmly shifted to the main event of Day 16 at the Bangalore Summer Meeting, The Maharaja’s Gold Cup, a prestigious terms race held at 4:00 pm. Run over a grueling 2200 metres, this elite contest was open to horses aged four years and older, carrying a generous purse of ₹30,40,000, including a winner’s share of ₹18,24,000. With a history of showcasing champions, the race was eagerly awaited by fans and connections alike.

Positano rose to the occasion in commanding fashion, sealing a brilliant win in 2:16.11 under a confident ride by Akshay Kumar and astute handling from trainer S. S. Attaollahi. Representing the ownership of M/s. DT Racing & Breeding LLP , Mr Mukul A. Sonawala , Mr S. R. Sanas, Mr Rama Seshu Eyunni, the winner displayed both stamina and class, outstaying a quality field to claim top honours.

Chasing the leader closely was Arkadian, who put in a valiant effort to finish second in 2:16.33. Trained by Pesi Shroff and guided by Vivek G., the runner carried the hopes of Mr C. F. Palia & Mrs C. F. Palia and lost nothing in defeat in a closely run contest.

Dyf, partnered by P. Trevor and trained by Adhiraj Singh Jodha, secured third with a solid run timed at 2:16.57. Owned by Five Stars Shipping Co Pvt Ltd rep. by Mr. K. N. Dhunjibhoy, Mr. Z. K. Dhunjibhoy & Ms Anosha Meyers, Mr Rama Seshu Eyunni, Mr Jiyaji Bhosale, Mr Rishikesh Bhosale, Dyf added depth to an already thrilling Gold Cup.

As the dust settles on this headline race, the focus now shifts to The Lagarde Plate, continuing a day of top-class racing at the Bangalore Turf Club.
