Positano Outstays Rivals to Win Governor’s Cup at Bangalore Turf Club
The spotlight turned to endurance and class as the Grade III Governor’s Cup, the feature event of the Bangalore Summer Meeting finale, brought together seasoned stayers for a grueling 2400-meter terms race. A total purse of ₹20,85,000 was on offer, with ₹12,50,998 awarded to the winner, along with a commemorative trophy from the Bangalore Turf Club Ltd.
It was Positano, trained by S.S. Attaollahi and ridden to perfection by P. Trevor, who rose to the occasion with a well-judged ride and a late kick that proved decisive. Representing M/s DT Racing & Breeding LLP, along with Mr. Mukul A. Sonawala, Mr. S. R. Sanas, and Mr. Rama Seshu Eyunni, Positano crossed the wire in 2:33.81, sealing a memorable triumph in one of the club’s most prestigious races.
In close pursuit came Rise And Reign, partnered by Neeraj Rawal for trainer Rajesh Narredu, just a shade behind at 2:33.91. Owned by Mrs. Shreya Rajesh Narredu and Mr. Teja Gollapudi, the runner-up showed tenacity but fell short.
Completing the top three was Queen Of Kings, piloted by Antony Raj S., also from the Rajesh Narredu yard. Owned by Mr. Rajesh Narredu, Mr. Teja Gollapudi, and Dr. Prabhakar Chowdary Tripuraneni, she ran a credible third in 2:34.30.
