Tactical Riding and Late Bursts Define Manila’s Evening Racing

The Philippine Race Results 2 January presented a competitive seven-race programme at the Philippine Jockey Club, showcasing emerging talent and consistent performers across the dirt outer track. Racing ran from late afternoon into the evening, offering spectators a display of tactical rides and well-prepared runners.

The opening 3YO & ABOVE MAIDEN PACE over 1200 meters at 5:00 PM carried a prize of ₱400,000. RODEO DRIVE claimed victory under jockey JM Estorque for trainer Edgardo R. Lumpay, finishing strongly in 1:14. The horse settled mid-pack before producing a decisive finishing burst down the straight.

In the RBHS CLASS 5, 1400 meters at 5:30 PM, also with ₱400,000 on offer, PRIVATE DINING edged out the field under PJA Guce for trainer Anthony A. Henson in 1:3, winning by three-quarters of a length. The runner maintained a prominent position throughout and responded well to the late drive.

The third race, RBHS CLASS 5,1400 meters at 6:00 PM, again with ₱400,000, saw JUST ME take the honours with jockey JE Apellido for trainer Ralph S. Alcantara, clocking 1:29. The winner showed a strong early pace and controlled the race comfortably to the line.

MALIBU BELL triumphed in the fourth RBHS CLASS 5, 1400 meters race at 6:30 PM, with ₱400,000 prize money. CV Garganta rode for trainer Donato S. Sordan to finish in 1:28.8, overtaking the front-runner in the final stages with a well-timed effort.

Race five, RBHS CLASS 5, 1400 meters at 7:00 PM, offered another ₱400,000. A MAN’S A MAN dominated for jockey RD Raquel Jr and trainer Raymundo E. Mongaya, completing the distance in 1:27. The horse showed impressive acceleration in the straight to secure a clear advantage.

In the sixth race, RBHS CLASS 4, 1400 meters at 7:30 PM with ₱400,000 in prize money, FLAMING JUNE recorded 1:25 for jockey AR Villegas and trainer Claudio C. Angeles. The winner maintained a stalking position before producing a smooth, decisive finish.

The evening concluded with the seventh race, RBHS CLASS 4, 1400 meters at 8:00 PM, offering ₱400,000. MELANIA crossed the line in 1:27.6 with OP Cortez aboard for trainer Renato D. Hipolito, showing determination from the turn and holding off late challengers.

Overall, the Philippine Race Results 2 January demonstrated competitive depth across both maiden and RBHS-rated divisions. Trainers and jockeys delivered calculated performances, highlighting the growing strength of the local racing circuit.
