The NZB Ready to Run Sale will return to Karaka, New Zealand, in November with a strong record of producing successful two-year-old graduates, while Tim Askew’s Pamina Lodge will make its debut with a four-colt draft. Graduates from the last six editions of the sale will have recorded average prize-money earnings of more than $160,000, a figure that will stand above the average sale price across those six renewals.
The record will provide an important reference point for buyers preparing for the upcoming auction. The sale will also continue to attract interest from Australia, where prize-money levels will remain strong, while currency conditions between Australia and New Zealand will provide an effective 24 per cent discount against the New Zealand sale price for Australian buyers.
Those figures will underline the racing record behind the Karaka auction, while several graduates from recent editions will provide further evidence of the quality that will emerge from the sale. The November renewal will also give newer consignors an opportunity to establish themselves, with Pamina Lodge preparing to enter the Karaka ring under its own name for the first time.
NZB Ready to Run Sale Will Present Proven Graduate Record
The NZB Ready to Run Sale will head into its November renewal with six editions providing a substantial body of graduate performance data. Average prize-money earnings of more than $160,000 across those graduates will exceed the average sale price recorded over the same period, highlighting the racing achievements of horses that will have progressed from the two-year-old sale into competitive careers.
Alongside the broader results, several high-profile graduates from those editions will have drawn attention on the racetrack. Their performances will add context to the sale’s established record as buyers assess the latest catalogue and consider the range of two-year-olds that will be offered at Karaka.
The sale will also provide an opportunity for newer consignors to establish themselves, with Pamina Lodge set to make its first appearance under its own banner. The draft will be headed by four colts, giving Askew a manageable group as he begins a new chapter in his consigning career.
Tim Askew to Present Four-Colt Pamina Lodge Draft
Tim Askew will arrive at the NZB Ready to Run Sale two years after making a notable return from his first pinhooking venture. In 2024, he will have purchased a Super Seth colt for $70,000 from the Waikato Stud draft at the National Yearling Sale at Karaka before the colt will later be offered by KB Bloodstock at the Ready to Run Sale and sell for $420,000 to Sutton Racing and Byron Rogers.
The horse, named Sulek, will subsequently become a winner and black-type placegetter for Melbourne trainer Dominic Sutton. That result will provide the background to Askew’s decision to return with his own draft, with the young horseman now set to present four colts under the Pamina Lodge banner.
Two members of the draft will have been purchased by Askew from Book 2 of Karaka 2026. The Hello Youmzain colt will be catalogued as Lot 410, having been purchased for $40,000, while the Noverre colt will enter the sale as Lot 67 after being acquired for $100,000.
The other two members of the Pamina Lodge draft will be an Embellish colt catalogued as Lot 183 and an Armory colt listed as Lot 244. The four-horse draft will give Askew an opportunity to begin consigning horses under his own name while working with a group he will have selected and prepared for the Karaka sale.
Preparation will also receive assistance from Lynsey Satherley, who will help with the final stage of the colts’ preparation before the sale. Askew will have reported that all four horses will be sound and will have progressed through their preparation without issues.
For Pamina Lodge, the November appearance will represent an important first chapter under its own banner. The draft will combine four different stallion lines, with two of the colts having already been sourced by Askew at Karaka earlier in the year.
The combination of a proven graduate record and fresh consigning talent will give the November auction several points of interest as buyers prepare for the latest renewal at Karaka. With six recent editions providing a substantial record of graduate earnings, the sale will once again bring together established bloodstock success and new opportunities for consignors such as Pamina Lodge.
The NZB Ready to Run Sale will return to Karaka in November with a strong six-sale graduate record and a four-colt debut draft from Tim Askew’s Pamina Lodge.
