A flush of excitement ran through the Inglis Digital September (Early) Online Sale today as buyers clambered to secure shares in two of the country’s most promising young stallions. Eric Yeung, visibly elated after the hammer fell, purchased a 1% share in Ole Kirk for $600,000—a result that values the reigning Champion First Season Sire at an eye-watering $60 million. Not stopping there, Yeung also secured a share in Southport Tycoon for $180,000, capping a dramatic day of bidding.

Adam White of Vinery Stud, who offered the Ole Kirk share on behalf of a client, admitted he was “delighted with the outcome.” He praised the flexibility of the Inglis Digital platform, noting, “You can trade something like a stallion share whenever it suits you really. This one was owned by an outside shareholder and it made sense to trade it while the stallion is really hot.”

White highlighted Ole Kirk’s impressive start to his stud career. “We all saw what he did as a racehorse, a dual G1 winner at three, so there’s a lot more to come,” he said. He also pointed to the timely performance of Regal Award, who set a new Class Record at Sandown just as the auction concluded, signalling the next wave of exciting progeny.

For Inglis Digital Business Manager Nick Melmeth, the sale was a clear endorsement of the platform’s growing appeal. “There were three individual bidders over $500,000 on the Ole Kirk share, which was already well over the reserve price, so the demand was very strong,” he said. Melmeth also pointed out that previous public auction results for Ole Kirk shares had peaked at $460,000 in May, underscoring today’s record-breaking outcome.

Beyond the stallion shares, other six-figure lots included the broodmare Nags To Riches, purchased by Cannon Hayes Stud for $135,000, and the five-year-old race mare Catahoula, secured by Darby Racing for the same amount. Dave Morrissey of Cannon Hayes confirmed that Nags To Riches would visit popular young Coolmore stallion Home Affairs this season, calling it “a great match for her.”

The sale concluded with a total gross of $3,376,950. Other notable six-figure purchases included Exclusivity ($130,000 to Harry McAlpine), Secret Galaxy ($130,000 to Lofty Thoroughbreds), Anjeo ($120,000 to Sunlight Trust), and Idolised ($100,000 to Geisel Park). Entries are now open for the September (Late) Sale, which runs from September 19–24, with submissions closing at midnight on Wednesday, September 17.

The sale comes hot on the heels of another successful weekend for Inglis Digital graduates. At Moonee Valley, Baraqiel’s triumph in the G1 Moir Stakes delivered a remarkable return for investors Anne Yates, Christopher White, and Peter & Nick King, who purchased shares through the platform. Meanwhile, in Korea, Self Improvement (Deep Field), acquired by KK Bloodstock in 2023, claimed the G3 Korea Sprint, becoming the first Australian-bred horse to win an international G3 in the country.
