Nottingham Evening Fixture Produces Six Distinct Winners on 11 June

Beneath the evening skies at Nottingham Racecourse, six races were decided on Thursday, 11 June, as Barnaby Rudge, Decade Of Time, Return To Unit, Song Of The Stars, Toptime and Rambuso Creek emerged victorious. The fixture featured two novice contests, three handicaps and a classified stakes race, with trainers James Fanshawe, Jack Channon, Roger Varian, James Ferguson, Roy Bowring and Michael Herrington all represented among the winners.

Opening the card, the EBF Restricted Novice Stakes (Class 5) was won by Barnaby Rudge, ridden by Daniel Muscutt and trained by James Fanshawe for owner Fred Archer Racing – Charibert. Producing a decisive effort in the closing stages, the winner defeated Shaniko by 1¼ lengths, while Wolf’s Gallop filled third place.

Continuing the programme, the £9 Racedays At Nottingham Racecourse Novice Stakes (Class 4) went the way of Decade Of Time, partnered by George Bass and trained by Jack Channon for The Filly Folly & Sweet Partnership. The successful runner delivered a polished display to record 1m 50.01s, finishing ahead of Fractional in second and Prince Of Calypso in third.

One of the feature contests on the card saw Return To Unit secure victory in the Wildwest Beer Festival 4th July Handicap Stakes (Class 4). Ridden by Ray Dawson and trained by Roger Varian for owner Victorious Forever, the winner produced a strong performance to stop the clock at 1m 50.12s, while Swift Salian and Miletus completed the placings.

In the longest race of the meeting, the Handicap Stakes (Class 6) was captured by Song Of The Stars, who provided jockey Harry Vigors and trainer James Ferguson with success for owners G Bishop and A Kirkland. Staying on effectively throughout the extended test, the winner completed the race in 3m 15.41s, with Wedonttellthetruth finishing second and Caraway taking third.

Speed came to the fore later in the evening when Toptime landed the Events At Nottingham Racecourse Handicap Stakes (Class 6). Ridden by Jack Gilligan and trained by Roy Bowring for owner Mr S. R. Bowring, the winner recorded 1m 01.40s in the sprint contest, while Charging Bull filled the runner-up position and Albegone completed the first three home.

Bringing the fixture to its conclusion, the Dine In Sherwoods Restaurant Classified Stakes (Class 6) was won by Rambuso Creek, ridden by Conor Whiteley and trained by Michael Herrington for owners S. Herrington & Mrs H Lloyd-Herrington. The winner rounded off the card with a professional performance, posting 1m 15.79s, with Timebar finishing second and She’s A Goldigger taking third place.

The six-race programme delivered a varied set of winners across novice, handicap and classified company, while several established stables added further success to their records during a competitive evening at Nottingham.
