The Pune Meeting Special Race Day came to a close at Pune Racecourse, managed by the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC), with the running of The Orange Flame Plate, a 1600-meter handicap for Indian horses rated 20 to 46. The race offered a winners’ purse of ₹5,50,000 and delivered a fitting finale to a thrilling day of racing.
Nostalgia, partnered by the in-form P. Trevor, emerged victorious under a confident ride for trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, clocking 1:41:696. The winner, who showed great finishing speed in the final furlong, is owned by M/s Hemant S. Dharnidharka & Dinesh G. Virwani.
The runner-up honours went to Doctor Dolly, ridden by A. Sandesh and trained by Faisal A. Abbas, who stopped the clock at 1:41:825, falling just short of top honours.
Completing the podium was Vincero, piloted by Aditya Waydande for trainer Shazaan Shah, finishing in 1:42:190.
With yielding track conditions, a penetrometer reading of 4.7, and false rails from 2 to 4 metres, riders needed tactical rides and stamina to close out the card.
