The third race of the Mysore (Monsoon) Races 2025 Meeting 3rd Day, Thursday, 11 September, delivered a sharp display of speed and grit in The Regency Gold Plate (Div II), a Class IV event for horses rated 20 to 45 over 1200 metres. Breaking cleanly from the gates, Noble Cause (J: L. Alex Rozario, T: S. Dominic) surged to victory in 1:11.691, racing in the silks of Mr M. Venkatesh and marking a memorable performance in front of an enthusiastic Thursday crowd.
The four-year-old bay gelding settled into rhythm early, tracking the pace through the first half before launching a decisive challenge in the straight. Under the confident handling of jockey L. Alex Rozario, Noble Cause quickened smartly in the final 300 metres, asserting dominance in the closing strides to hold off the late challenge of seasoned rivals. The victory not only showcased Noble Cause’s turn of foot but also underlined trainer S. Dominic’s precise conditioning.
Chisox (J: Anish Anamo Hangal, T: K. Pradeep Annaiah), the experienced eight-year-old chestnut runner, stayed in close contention throughout and finished second in 1:11.974, less than half a length behind the winner. Abnegator (J: Gagandeep Maan, T: Dhyan Subbaiah K) followed in third, clocking 1:12.945, after making steady progress but failing to threaten the leading duo in the closing stages.
With The Regency Gold Plate (Div II) concluded, the spotlight now shifts to the feature contests later in the Mysore card, promising more thrilling finishes as the Monsoon season gains momentum.
