Newcastle Racecourse will stage a seven-race programme on Friday, 26 June, with more than £200,000 in prize money set to be contested across an evening card featuring handicaps, a novice event and a valuable Group 3 contest. Large fields will be a recurring theme throughout the fixture, while the Delves Hoppings Fillies’ Stakes will provide the centrepiece of the meeting.

An intriguing opening contest will arrive at 5:10pm in the Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Stakes (Class 6). Run over 1m 2f 42y for £9,000, the race will attract a field of 14 runners headed by The Ubermensch, Kitsune Power, Glitter Code, Royal Blaze, He’s Our Cracker and Maple. The middle-distance handicap will offer amateur riders an early opportunity to make their mark on the card.
Attention will then turn to the 5:43pm Novice Stakes (Class 4) (GBB Race), a £10,000 contest over 7f 14y. Eleven runners will be declared, including Rake Lane, Real Trouper, Back At One, Binmalk, Hawksworth and Heathers Feather. Several lightly raced contenders will seek to build experience and progress their careers in what will be a competitive novice event.
The pace will increase at 6:18pm when the Handicap Stakes (Class 4) takes place over 1m 5y. Carrying prize money of £11,000 and featuring 14 runners, the contest will include Callianassa, Harry The Rogue, Sailthisshipalone, Racingbreaks Ryder, Bowood and Montezin. A blend of proven performers and progressive types will ensure a closely matched affair.
Quality will rise significantly at 6:53pm with the Delves Hoppings Fillies’ Stakes (Group 3), the feature race of the evening. Worth £95,000 and staged over 1m 2f 42y, the contest will bring together seven runners, including Sky Safari, Alla Stella, Ashariba, Diamond Rain, Dreamasar and Uluru. The Pattern race will provide the highest-class action on the programme and will draw considerable attention from racing followers.
Sprint specialists will take centre stage at 7:28pm in the Bradford Gosforth Park Cup Handicap Stakes (Class 2). The prestigious five-furlong contest will offer £60,000 in prize money and will feature a maximum field of 14 runners. Al Shabab Storm, Gaeli, Purosangue, Kylian, Another Baar and Corolla Point will be among the notable contenders in a race that is expected to produce a fiercely competitive finish.
The evening’s penultimate contest will be the 8:03pm Handicap Stakes (Class 5), another five-furlong sprint carrying a purse of £10,000. Fourteen runners will be set to line up, including Irish Nectar, Sports Coach, Call To Action, Ancient State, Tiriac and Blind Beggar. Speed and tactical positioning will be vital factors in this sharp sprint.
The curtain will fall on the meeting at 8:38pm with the Reduced Carbon Fuels Handicap Stakes (Class 6). Run over six furlongs for £9,000, the finale will feature 14 runners, among them Miners Gamble, Tommy McJohn, Jkr Cobbler, Little Beck Annie, Angel Of England and Haworth Star. The concluding handicap will provide one final competitive contest before the evening programme comes to a close.
