The Newcastle Racecourse will outline an eight-race all-weather meeting at on Tuesday, 20th January featuring a structured afternoon card of handicaps, novice contests and classified races across sprint and middle-distance trips. Racing will take place on the Tapeta surface, with the first race scheduled for 12:43pm and the card concluding at 4:13pm.
The programme will offer competitive fields throughout, with prize money ranging from £6,000 to £15,200 and race distances spanning five furlongs to just over a mile and a quarter. A blend of exposed handicappers and progressive types will shape a balanced midweek fixture.
Proceedings will begin at 12:43pm with THE MIDNITE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) over 1m 2f 42y, where 11 runners will contest £7,100. Sword of Wessex, Haveyoumissedme, Lightening Company and Selenic will be among those set to line up in the opening contest.
At 1:13pm, THE CLASSIFIED STAKES (CLASS 6) over 7f 14y for £6,000 will follow, drawing 10 runners. Catherine Chroi, Chris’s Mate, Dash Power and Green Valentine will head a field shaped around consistency and recent form.
The 1:43pm will feature THE MIDNITE NOVICE STAKES (CLASS 4) (GBB RACE) over five furlongs, with 10 runners competing for £10,000. Mr Dreamseller, Dandy Breeze, Starryfield and Battenburg Belle will be among the notable names in a race designed to assess early-stage potential.
Handicap action will resume at 2:13pm with THE GOLDEN GOALS HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) over one mile and five yards. Joseph, Tasever, Sea Legend and Samra Star will be among the 10 runners aiming to secure the £9,000 prize.
The highest-value race on the card will arrive at 2:43pm in THE MIDNITE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 3) over six furlongs one yard. A select field of seven, including Badri, Coachello, Betsen and Aberama Gold, will contest £15,200.
Two Class 6 sprint handicaps over six furlongs will follow at 3:13pm and 3:43pm worth £9,000. THE MIDNITE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) (DIV I) will include Teardrops, Ana Emaraaty, Spartan Fighter and Cordelin among nine runners, while The DIVISION II will feature Instant Bond, Asadjumeirah, Eco Power Boy and Ramon di Loria in an eight-runner field.
The meeting will conclude at 4:13pm with THE MIDNITE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) over five furlongs. An eleven-runner field will line up for £7,100, headed by Dark Kestrel, Ganesha, Darlo Pride and Our Absent Friends.
