Mysore Races 2025 delivered an electric start on its sixth day as Vayu powered to victory in the 2nd race of the day — The Sidapur Plate (Div II), a Class IV contest for horses rated 20 to 45 run over 1200 metres on Friday, 19 September 2025. Breaking smartly and finishing with conviction, the Joseph B Awale-trained runner stopped the clock at 1:11.472 under a measured ride from jockey J. Chinoy, bringing a deserving win for owner Mr P. T. Girish.
Vayu was always handily placed through the early strides, shadowing the front-runners without expending extra energy. Approaching the home bend, Chinoy angled the bay wider and began to quicken, and once shown daylight, Vayu surged past the field with an impressive burst. The gelding’s momentum carried him clear in the final 100 metres, sealing a confident victory while keeping rivals firmly at bay.
Sea of Adventure offered the strongest challenge in the closing stages, with jockey Anil Baandal urging him on for trainer Bipin V Salvi, but their effort came just shy as they clocked 1:11.848 to finish second. Versace, partnered by Dhanu Singh Deora for trainer M. Rajendra Singh, stayed on steadily to claim third in 1:12.278, rounding off a tightly contested sprint.
With The Sidapur Plate (Div II) concluded in style, the spotlight now shifts to the upcoming Civil Services Trophy at 3:30 PM, promising another thrilling chapter on this Mysore race day.
