The Mysore Monsoon Races 2025 season burst into life on Thursday afternoon with a thunderous reception from an animated crowd, who witnessed a performance of breathtaking authority from the brilliant Ocean. As jockey Faiz returned to the paddock standing tall in the saddle, applause rolled around the stands, capturing the raw emotion of a day that celebrated grit, skill, and rising stars. The electric opening set the tone beautifully for the weeks ahead, creating memories worthy of a season curtain-raiser for the Mysore race result September 4.

The Ocean Varada Plate (1400m) unfolded with measured early tempo as Ocean, trained by C. D. Monnappa, settled smoothly behind the leaders, conserving momentum. The rhythm shifted dramatically turning for home, where Faiz released the reins and Ocean responded with a breathtaking surge. Swallowing ground with long, fluent strides, the gelding swept clear to secure a commanding victory by more than six lengths, stopping the clock at 1:05.315 and stamping his authority on the new season.

Behind the winner, Knotty in Blue, guided by Afsar Khan for trainer Mansoor Khan, ran on strongly to finish second, beaten two and a half lengths, while Falcon Fury, ridden by Y. S. Srinath for trainer J. Ganesh, claimed third, a further two and a quarter lengths behind. Phoenix Gold and Indian Glory completed the order of runners.

Earlier in the afternoon, emotion ran high as the opening contest, the Star of Mysore Trophy (1400m), delivered another rousing finish. Pretty Move, partnered by Antony Raj S for trainer Rakesh, displayed an explosive late burst to win decisively by two and a half lengths, thrilling supporters and signalling a promising future.

Ocean’s proud owners — Mrs. Preeti C. Shah, Mr. K. M. Shah, Ms. Tejaswini Kishor Mishal and Mr. Vinod M. Mathurawala — shared joyous celebrations in the parade ring, their expressions reflecting the weight of preparation behind such a powerful performance.

As the first afternoon of the 2025/26 Mysore Monsoon Races came to a close, anticipation now builds toward Friday, 5 September, featuring seven races from 2 PM, promising another day rich with competitive fire and emotional finish lines.
