In The Somanathpur Plate DIV II, a Class IV event for horses rated 20 to 45 over 1400 metres which took place at 03:00 PM , Power of Gold (Jockey Akshay Kumar, Trainer Darius Byramji) delivered a commanding performance for owners M/s Mukul A Sonawala, Girish Mehta & DT Racing & Breeding LLP represented by Mr D R Thacker, stopping the clock at 1:25.510 to claim a well-deserved victory.

Racing prominently throughout, Power of Gold displayed sharp early speed and perfectly timed acceleration to seize the lead in the home straight. Maintaining composure under pressure, Akshay Kumar guided the winner with tactical precision, leaving challengers to chase but unable to close the gap in the final furlong. The mare’s decisive burst in the closing stages underlined her superior finishing strength.
The runner-up honours went to Gandolfini (J: Y. S. Srinath, T: K Purshotham), finishing just behind in 1:25.582, after keeping close tabs on the winner for much of the race. Verrazzano (J: R. N. Darshan, T: Satish Narredu) secured third place in 1:26.138, rounding out a competitive top three separated by mere fractions of a second.
With the excitement of the Somanathpur Plate concluded, eyes now turn to The J.H. Foley Memorial Trophy at 03:30 PM, promising another compelling test of speed and strategy as the Mysore Monsoon Races continue to deliver top-class racing action.
