On Friday, 5 September 2025, at the Mysore (Monsoon) Races Meeting’s second day, Race 7—the Class IV The Somanathpur Plate DIV I over 1,400 m—saw an impressive performance by MONTERIO (4-year-old bay gelding), ridden by Antony Raj S. for owner Mr V Shankar and trained by K Pradeep Annaiah. Finishing in a time of 1:25.119, Antony Raj S. not only captured today’s final race but also added to an already stellar day—having come third in Race 4 and winning Races 5 and 6, he now walks away with three victories and one third-place finish, including the last race of the day.

From the opening gates, MONTERIO settled into a prominent position, showing excellent early speed and covering the ground fluidly. In the home stretch, Antony Raj S. timed his run to perfection, slipping the gelding through along the rails while maintaining momentum. His tactful handling and well-timed surge ensured that MONTERIO held a clear advantage over his rivals in the closing stages.

ONE NATION (3-year-old chestnut filly) responded stoutly under Y. S. Srinath, trained by J Ganesh, finishing a commendable second in 1:25.934. In third was ANCIENT HISTORY (6-year-old dark bay gelding), ridden by Chethan Kalay S. for trainer S Shoban Babu, clocking a time of 1:26.517. The top three were separated by fractions, showcasing a competitive finish.
