Musselburgh will stage a seven-race programme on Saturday, 4 April, presenting a well-structured afternoon of flat racing that will combine competitive handicaps, a Listed feature, and developmental opportunities for emerging runners. The meeting will begin at 1:25 PM and will conclude at 4:45 PM, with total prize money distributed across the card and race distances ranging from 5 furlongs to nearly 1 mile and 6 furlongs, ensuring a varied and balanced contest throughout the afternoon.

To commence proceedings, the Royal Mile Handicap Stakes (Class 3) will be run at 1:25 PM over 7f 212y for a total prize fund of £30,000. Six runners are set to line up, including Vincenzo Peruggia, Utmost Good Faith, Monoceros, Strength of Spirit, and Kanishka. With a relatively small field, the race will likely develop into a tactically run contest where positioning and timing in the closing stages will prove decisive.

Shortly thereafter, the Silver Arrow Handicap Stakes (Class 2) will take place at 1:55 PM over 7f 5y, offering £50,000 in prize money. A field of ten runners will go to post, featuring Royal Zabeel, Golden Mind, Midnight Gun, Al Arbeed, and Gweedore. The nature of the trip will place emphasis on early pace and track position, making it a competitive contest from the outset.

At the heart of the afternoon’s programme, the Goliath Cup Stakes (Class 1), a Listed race, will be contested at 2:30 PM over 1m 5f 206y with prize money of £80,000. Six runners are set to compete, including Al Qareem, Many Men, Mount Atlas, Roaring Legend, and Kate O’Riley. As the feature event, it will demand both stamina and class, with the extended distance likely to test each runner’s endurance.

Turning attention to the staying division, the Queen’s Cup Handicap Stakes (Class 3) (GBBPLUS Race) will be run at 3:05 PM over 1m 5f 206y for a prize fund of £50,000. Thirteen runners will line up, including Wise Eagle, Moon Over Miami, Shadow Dance, Dancingwithmyself, and Almuhit. With one of the largest fields on the card, the race will require sustained effort and careful race management throughout.

The tempo will notably increase thereafter, as the Scottish Sprint Cup Handicap Stakes (Class 2) is scheduled for 3:42 PM over 5f 1y with £70,000 in prize money. A full field of fourteen runners will compete, featuring Democracy Dilemma, Against The Wind, Tropical Storm, Heavenly Heather, and Jordan Electrics. This fast-paced sprint will place a premium on quick starts and sharp acceleration.

In the penultimate stage of the meeting, the EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes (Class 4) (GBB Race) will be run at 4:12 PM over 5f 1y for £12,000 in prize money. Eleven runners are declared, including Adonius, River Jordan, Super Alpha, Jaydee’s Dream, and Katie’s Knight. The contest will provide a platform for less experienced runners to demonstrate early promise over the minimum trip.

To bring the afternoon’s racing to a close, the concluding Handicap Stakes (Class 4) will take place at 4:45 PM over 5f 1y with a total prize fund of £15,000. Thirteen runners are set to participate, including Ziggy’s Triton, Wheels of Fire, Curious Rover, Al Hussar, and The Bell Conductor. The final sprint will offer a competitive finish to the meeting, with a tightly matched field expected to contest the closing stages.

The Musselburgh Race Cards 4 April will present a competitive and well-balanced programme, highlighted by the Listed Goliath Cup and supported by strong handicap contests across both sprint and staying distances.
