The winner raced in the colours of M/s Mukul Sonawala, Girish S Mehta & Nozer Panthaky, rewarding connections with a polished late surge.

Breaking well and settling into a handy early position, Charlie Brown travelled smoothly through the opening half before being angled out for a clear run approaching the final furlong. Once asked for an effort, the runner responded instantly, quickening smartly and asserting authority inside the final 200 metres. Akshay Kumar judged the pace perfectly, ensuring the winner had enough in reserve to repel late challengers and seal the contest convincingly.

Runner-up honours went to Skandha (J: T. S. Jodha, T: Nazzak B Chenoy), who stayed on gamely in the closing stages, though official timing was not available at the time of reporting. Heaven’s Rhythm (J: Yash Narredu, T: M. Narredu) finished third, also with official timing awaited, after making steady late progress without seriously threatening the top pair.

Earlier in the afternoon, the card opened with The Forest Flair Trophy (Race 1, 1000m, 02:30 PM) where Ekla Cholo (J: P. Trevor, T: Faisal A. Abbas) struck early for owner Mr Faisal A Abbas, defeating Lickety Split and Between Friends.

Race 2, The Enigma Trophy (1600m, 03:00 PM), saw Zafferano (J: P. Trevor, T: Adhirajsingh Jodha) deliver a strong mile performance for the Five Stars Shipping Co Pvt Ltd partnership and Mr A S Narielwala, with Tyrannus finishing second and Black Thunder third.

Sprint specialists took centre stage in Race 3, The Dancing Prances Trophy (1000m, 03:30 PM), where Gunfire (J: Yash Narredu, T: M. Narredu) powered home for the large Stride Livestock Pvt Ltd ownership group, ahead of Ghost Of Victory and Phantom Strike.

Stamina then came into play in Race 4, The Oyster Cove Trophy (2400m, 04:00 PM), as Diego Garcia (J: Suraj Narredu, T: Adhirajsingh Jodha) stayed strongly to score for connections led by Mr S R Sanas and Bachhawat Farms Pvt Ltd, with Little John and Caccini filling the placings.

The feature sprint of the afternoon, Race 5 — The Dr. S. C. Jain Sprinters’ Championship (Grade II) (1200m, 04:30 PM) — produced a quality performance from Time And Tide (J: Suraj Narredu, T: Adhirajsingh Jodha), scoring for Mr Vikram Bachhawat, while Dream Seller and Miss American Pie completed the frame.

Race 6, The Weizhou Trophy (1600m, 05:00 PM), saw Algonquin (J: P. Trevor, T: Dallas Todywalla) deliver a composed mile victory for M/s Geoffrey B Nagpal & S R Sanas, ahead of Beyond Stars and Flash Mob.

With The Captain Courage Trophy bringing the curtain down on the day’s racing, the Mumbai season now builds toward its upcoming marquee fixtures, where stronger fields and high-stakes contests are set to headline the next phase of racing action.
