The Royal Western India Turf Club’s Mumbai Meeting 2025/26 (Thirteenth Day) on Sunday, 22nd February 2026, reached a high point in Race No. 8 – The Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy, a Class V handicap for Indian horses rated 1 to 26 over 1400 metres, held at 7:45 PM. Prominently featured in the Mumbai race results 22 February, MACHIAVELLIAN produced a decisive performance under Antony Raj S. to claim top honours for trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha.
The winner carried the silks of Mr Jiyaji Bhosale, Mr Rishikesh Bhosale, Mr S R Sanas, Mr Kamlesh Vrajlal Shah, Dr Ram H Shroff & Mr Raj H Shroff rep Stride Livestock Pvt Ltd, Mr Sudendu Shah & Dr Rahul Shah, rewarding the faith of connections with a polished victory.
Positioned ideally through the early stages, MACHIAVELLIAN travelled comfortably behind the pace before being angled out approaching the straight. Antony Raj S. timed his move to perfection, asking for an effort at the right moment. The response was immediate as the leader surged ahead inside the final furlong, stretching clear to seal the 1400-metre contest with authority.
MA CHERIE, ridden by Vivek G. for trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi, finished a determined second after keeping up the chase in the straight, while MIGHTY HERO, partnered by Aditya Waydande and trained by J. E. Mckeown, stayed on to secure third and complete the frame.
Earlier in the evening, the card began at 4:00 PM with Race No. 1, The Kumar R. Dalal Gold Trophy over 1600 metres, where KINGS GAMBIT delivered a fluent performance under Yash Narredu for trainer P. Shroff. The winner raced for Mr Vijay B Shirke, Mrs Vijay B Shirke, Mr Jay V Shirke, Mrs Daisy K D B Mehta & Mr Dara K Mehta rep Darashaw Bloodstock Pvt Ltd, Mrs Liane Luthria & Mr Vispi R Patel. BREAK POINT (Neeraj Rawal, trainer P. S. Chouhan) finished second ahead of OPUS DEI (Akshay Kumar, trainer Imtiaz A. Sait).
Race No. 2, The Mystical Trophy over 2400 metres at 4:30 PM, saw CACCINI stay the trip strongly under David Allan for trainer Karthik Ganapathy, representing Mr Zavaray S Poonawalla, Mrs Behroze Z Poonawalla, Mr Yohan Z Poonawalla, Mrs Michelle Y Poonawalla, Ms Delna Z Poonawalla, Mrs Simone Poonawalla Pandole & Mr Rishad N Pandole rep Poonawalla Racing & Brdg Pvt Ltd. DIEGO GARCIA (Suraj Narredu, Adhirajsingh Jodha) was second, with ALLEZ L’ETOILE (A. Prakash, Narendra Lagad) third.
At 5:00 PM, The Dr. Goolam E. Vahanvati Trophy over 1600 metres went to ALGONQUIN, guided by David Allan for Dallas Todywalla and owned by M/s Geoffrey B Nagpal & S R Sanas. LOOKING LIKE A WOW (P. Trevor, Subhag Singh) and GIANT GOLD (Aditya Waydande, Shazaan Shah) filled the minor placings.
Race No. 4, The Intervalve Poonawalla Ltd. Trophy over 1200 metres at 5:30 PM, produced a sharp success for MINARI under Neeraj Rawal for trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, racing for Mr Mukul Sonawala, Mr D R Thacker rep DT Racing & Breeders LLP, Mr Chetan Shah, Mr Girish S Mehta & Mr Sunil S Majithia. PINNACLE (Yash Narredu, M. Narredu) and ORGANISED CHAOS (P. Trevor, Adhirajsingh Jodha) followed home.
The feature Race No. 5 at 6:00 PM, The Poonawalla Breeders’ Multi-Million (Grade I) over 1400 metres, saw MARGARETTA shine under Vivek G. for P. Shroff, carrying the colours of Mr Mehernosh H Deboo. LADY SCARLET (P. Trevor, Adhirajsingh Jodha) claimed second, while BUCKINGHAM (Antony Raj S., Karthik Ganapathy) finished third.
Race No. 6, The Florrie and Freddy Sopher Gold Trophy over 1200 metres at 6:30 PM, went the way of VEGATHA, ridden by R. Ajinkya for trainer P. S. Chouhan and owned by Mr Cheriyan Abraham and Mrs Smita Bajoria rep Cherie Sports Private Limited. STORM CLOUD (Bharat Singh, Narendra Lagad) and MANOR HOUSE (S. G. Prasad, Aman Altaf Hussain) completed the placings.
The penultimate Race No. 7, The Corfe Castle Trophy over 1200 metres at 7:15 PM, saw SOCIAL BUTTERFLY score under Neeraj Rawal for Dallas Todywalla, representing Mr Mukul Sonawala, Mr Nozer Panthaky, Mr D R Thacker rep DT Racing & Breeders LLP, Mr Kairus Dadachanji, Mr P J Vazifdar, Mr M Rishad, Mr Munchi P Shroff & Mr K H Vachha. FONTANA (Prashant P. Dhebe, P. S. Chouhan) was second, while MARKET KING (Vivek G., Imtiaz A. Sait) finished third.
