Race 2 of the Mumbai Meeting 2025/26 delivered a sharp early highlight as Big Bay powered home to take The Jayant M. Shah & Champak M. Shah Gold Trophy on Sunday, 7th December 2025. The Class III contest for Indian horses rated 40 to 66 (20 to 39 eligible), run over 1400 metres at 03:00 PM, saw the M. Narredu-trained runner produce a polished, professional performance for jockey Yash Narredu.

In a reminder of how competitive the mid-card can be, the Mumbai race result 7 December fixture once again showed how momentum can swing in an instant at Mahalaxmi. Big Bay carried the colours of Mr Balam Mohla, Mrs Rashmee A Amersey rep So Blest Trading Co Pvt Ltd, Mr Sanjay Punamchand Kothari, Mr Anil Saraf, Mrs B E Saldanha, Mr Jehangir Mehta & Mrs Homi Mehta, delivering them a satisfying triumph.

Breaking smartly and settling into a stalking position, Big Bay travelled sweetly throughout the first half of the race. Yash Narredu timed his forward move with poise, edging closer around the bend before unleashing the decisive surge inside the final furlong. The gelding quickened with purpose, putting daylight between himself and the chasing pack to seal a confident win for the Narredu camp.

Eagle Day, partnered by Vivek G. for trainer P. Shroff, kept on resolutely to secure second place, maintaining a steady rhythm through the long Mumbai straight. Shirsa, ridden by S. G. Prasad and trained by Sangramsinh N. Joshi, closed out the frame in third, completing the principal finishers of a genuinely run 1400-metre contest.

With the result settled, attention now builds towards the next event on the card — The Sir Rahimtoola Chinoy Cup, slated for 03:30 PM, promising another engaging chapter in the Mumbai afternoon’s racing narrative.
