In the Mumbai race result 30 November card at the opening day of the Mumbai Meeting 2025/26, Race 5 — The Director General of Police Trophy — delivered a thrilling highlight at 4:00 PM. Run over 1400m for Class II horses rated 60 to 86, the contest was owned in every sense by Western Star, who powered home under Mustakim Alam for trainer Narendra Lagad, stopping the clock at 1:21:800. Racing in the colours of Mr Sudendu Shah, Mr Kishore P. Rungta, Mr & Mrs Homi Mehta, Mr Jehangir Mehta, Dr Rahul Shah, Mrs Preeti C. Shah, Mr K. M. Shah & Mr Vinod M. Mathurawala, the gelding produced a polished, confident performance befitting the trophy’s prestige.
From the jump, Western Star travelled with intent, settling into a smooth rhythm before tightening his grip on the race approaching the final 300 metres. Mustakim Alam timed the forward move perfectly, pushing his mount into clear sailing as rivals attempted to close in. The response was immediate and emphatic — Western Star lengthened with authority, holding his advantage even as the field quickened behind him.
Opus Dei, ridden by K. Pranil and trained by Imtiaz A. Sait, emerged as the closest pursuer, finishing in 1:21:962 after staying in contention throughout. The ever-reliable Singer Sargent completed the trifecta for trainer Faisal A. Abbas, with C. Umesh guiding him to a solid third in 1:22:087, rounding off a closely matched finish among the top contenders.
With Race 5 wrapped up in style, attention now shifts to The Captain G. Hall Trophy, scheduled for 4:30 PM, promising another compelling chapter in the Mumbai season’s opening day.
