The seventh race of the MUMBAI MEETING 2025/26, FOURTEENTH DAY on Thursday, 26th February 2026 featured The J. V. Shukla – Ashwamitra Plate, a Class III handicap for Indian horses rated 40 to 66 (20 to 39 eligible), run over 1400 metres at 7:30 PM at the iconic Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai. In the Mumbai race result 26 February narrative that unfolded through the evening, AMAZING RULER (J: P. Trevor) delivered a decisive performance for trainer Faisal A. Abbas and owners Mrs Seema Kamlesh Shah & Tasneem Hakim Lakdawala’s, stamping authority on the contest at a crucial stage of the programme.
AMAZING RULER broke well and was positioned prominently as the field settled into stride. P. Trevor judged the pace to perfection, keeping the leader within range before pressing forward on the home turn. Once asked for an effort, the response was immediate, the advantage established inside the final furlong and maintained strongly to the winning post.
SHIRSA (J: S. G. Prasad, T: Sangramsinh N. Joshi) chased resolutely to secure second place, while MATISSE (J: S. Siddharth -5, T: P. Shroff) finished third after staying on in the closing stages, rounding off the placings in a competitive finish.
Earlier in the afternoon at Mahalaxmi Racecourse, the card began at 4:30 PM with The R. N. Kanga Trophy over 1600 metres, where PRIDE’S PRINCE struck for jockey Antony Raj S. and trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, carrying the colours of Mr Sudendu Shah, Mrs Preeti C Shah, Mr K M Shah, Dr Rahul Shah, Mrs Pooja S Shah, Mr Chaitanya Shah, Mr Jayesh Kantilal Shah, Mr Chetan Kantilal Shah & Mr Tanmay V Mathurawala rep Shah Equines LLP & Mr Kishore P Rungta. THE MILENIUM FORCE (J: P. Trevor, T: P. S. Chouhan) finished second ahead of CHAGALL (J: A. Prakash, T: P. Shroff).
The A. F. S. Talyarkhan Salver over 1000 metres went the way of LEMPIKA, ridden by Vivek G. and trained by Adhirajsingh Jodha for Mr K N Dhunjibhoy, Mr Z K Dhunjibhoy & Ms Anosha Meyers rep Five Stars Shipping Co Pvt Ltd, Mr K H Vachha, Mr Jiyaji Bhosale & Mr Rishikesh Bhosale. FUNNY BUNNY (J: Shrikant Kamble, T: P. S. Chouhan) and ABSOLUTE EMPEROR (J: R. Ajinkya, T: P. S. Chouhan) filled the minor placings.
Race Three, The Pradeep Vijayakar Plate over 1200 metres, saw CINDERELLA’S DREAM provide P. Trevor and trainer Faisal A. Abbas another success, racing in the ownership of Mr Faisal A Abbas. SURREALIST (J: Vivek G., T: P. Shroff) finished second, with MEDUSA (J: C. Umesh, T: Faisal A. Abbas) in third.
At 6:00 PM, The Sir Charles Forbes Trophy over 1400 metres was claimed by MENORCA under David Allan for trainer Dallas Todywalla and owners Mr Geoffrey B Nagpal & Mrs Charonne Nagpal. SOLEVA (J: Vivek G., T: P. Shroff) was runner-up, while INCREDIBLE LUCK (J: Yash Narredu, T: Rajesh Narredu) completed the frame.
The Indian Air Force Trophy over 1000 metres produced a sharp display from AKITANIA, ridden by David Allan and trained by J E Mckeown for Mr Tegbir Singh Brar rep Sarainaga Racing Pvt Ltd. VIENNOISE (J: A. Omkar, T: Bezan Chenoy) and JAISALMER (J: Mustakim Alam, T: Adhirajsingh Jodha) finished second and third respectively.
Race Six, The Narayandas J. Dave Plate over 1200 metres, went to YOURMYLOVE with R Manish in the saddle for trainer B. Prithviraj and owner Mr B Vijeth Bhandari. PRECIOSO (J: T. S. Jodha, T: Nazzak B Chenoy) took second, while BEYOND STARS (J: B. Nikhil, T: S. Waheed) ran third.
With seven races decided at Mahalaxmi Racecourse in an absorbing Mumbai programme, the evening’s momentum carried forward as the meeting approached its concluding contests.
