Thursday’s Mumbai meeting at Mumbai Racecourse saw the excitement ramp up on the fourteenth day as Race 2 – The A. F. S. Talyarkhan Salver unfolded for three-year-old maiden Indian horses over 1000 metres. Lempika (J: Vivek G., T: Adhirajsingh Jodha) delivered a commanding performance, capturing the win for owners Mr K N Dhunjibhoy, Mr Z K Dhunjibhoy & Ms Anosha Meyers representing Five Stars Shipping Co Pvt Ltd, Mr K H Vachha, Mr Jiyaji Bhosale, and Mr Rishikesh Bhosale. The thrilling contest added another highlight to the Mumbai race result 26 February, showcasing the emerging talent at the city’s racing circuit.
From the break, Lempika settled just off the early pace, maintaining a clean line along the rails. With a sharp turn of foot approaching the final 200 metres, the horse surged ahead with precision, leaving rivals little room to respond and asserting control to cross the finish line in style.
Runner-up spoils went to Funny Bunny (J: Shrikant Kamble, T: P. S. Chouhan), staying within striking distance throughout but unable to match the winner’s decisive burst. Absolute Emperor (J: R. Ajinkya, T: P. S. Chouhan) finished strongly to claim third, rounding out a competitive top three and demonstrating the narrow margins separating the young contenders.
With Lempika’s triumph celebrated, attention now shifts to The Pradeep Vijayakar Plate at 5:30 PM, expected to test both speed and strategy in what promises to be another exhilarating encounter.
