The Mumbai race result 18 January delivered an assured opening statement as Challenge Accepted set the tone at the Royal Western India Turf Club with a polished victory in Race 1, The Maharaja Sir Pratapsingh Gaekwad Trophy, a Class III contest for Indian horses rated 40 to 66, run over 1200 metres at 2:00 PM on Sunday, 18 January 2026. Representing Mr Rajendran rep Rapar’s Galloping Stars LLP, the Adhirajsingh Jodha-trained runner made full use of conditions to land the day’s first prize in convincing fashion under Ramswarup.

Breaking alertly, Challenge Accepted was soon into a fluent rhythm, travelling strongly just off the pace as the field sorted itself out down the backstretch. Ramswarup judged matters astutely, allowing his mount to creep closer approaching the turn before asking for a decisive effort inside the final furlong. The response was immediate, the gelding quickening smartly to assert control and settle the issue without ever looking in danger.

Eastern Monarch stayed on resolutely to take second, with Akshay Kumar in the saddle for trainer Sanjay Kolse, keeping the winner honest through the closing stages. A length further back, Bee Magical completed the frame in third, ridden by Neeraj Rawal for Imtiaz A. Sait, after making steady late progress to edge clear of the remainder.

With the opener safely in the books, attention now turns to The Mulraj Goculdas Trophy at 2:30 PM, as the Mumbai Meeting 2025/26 continues to gather momentum with deeper fields and sharper contests still to come.
