The Mumbai race result 15 February delivered another compelling chapter on Special Race Day as Race No. 4, The Roman Rose Plate, unfolded at 05:30 PM over a sharp 1200 metres. The terms event for Indian horses aged three years only saw GUNFIRE produce a decisive performance under jockey Yash Narredu to claim top honours for trainer M. Narredu. Clocking an impressive 1:10:186, the winner raced in the distinguished silks of Mr Sanjay Punamchand Kothari, Mr Vivek S Jain, Mrs B E Saldanha, Mr Jehangir Mehta, Dr Mehli A Nazir, Mr Daulat Chhabria, Mrs Homi Mehta & Dr Ram H Shroff & Mr Raj H Shroff rep Stride Livestock Pvt Ltd.
From the moment the gates opened, GUNFIRE displayed natural early speed, settling prominently as the field sorted itself out in the initial furlongs. The pace was genuine, with challengers lining up across the track approaching the bend. Yash Narredu judged the tempo to perfection, conserving enough energy before asking his mount to quicken in the final 300 metres. Responding with a sharp turn of foot, GUNFIRE surged clear inside the last furlong, asserting authority and maintaining momentum right through the winning post.
ZAYYAN, ridden by Vivek G. and trained by P. Shroff, kept the winner within striking distance for much of the straight and finished a credible second after staying on resolutely. Stablemate EUROPE, partnered by Neeraj Rawal, also trained by P. Shroff, secured third place after making late headway to complete the frame. Though the minor placings fought gamely, they were unable to match the winner’s decisive acceleration in the closing stages.
