Race Number 6 at the Mumbai Meeting 2025/26, Seventh Day, Saturday 10th January 2026, produced a high-quality spectacle as Baychimo landed The Ramniwas Ramnarain Ruia Gold Cup (Grade III), a terms race for Indian horses, four-year-olds only, over 2000 metres at 3:30 PM. Adding to the significance of the Mumbai race result 10 January, Baychimo delivered a polished performance under A. Sandesh for trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha, clocking 1:59:252. The winner races in the colours of Mr Shiven Surendranath rep Diamond Band Racing Syndicate Pvt Ltd, Mr K H Vachha, Mr Vikram Bachhawat rep Bachhawat Farms Pvt Ltd & Dr Syed Ainuddin Arif.
Settled with purpose through the early stages, Baychimo travelled smoothly as the field sorted positions down the backstretch. Sandesh timed the move to perfection, asking Baychimo to lengthen stride approaching the final bend. The response was immediate, the colt asserting control in the straight and finding extra when challenged to seal the verdict with authority.
The runner-up honours went to Zacharias (J: Vivek G., T: P. Shroff), who stayed on resolutely to finish in 1:59:604, keeping the winner honest throughout the closing stages. Gunsmoke (J: Yash Narredu, T: M. Narredu) completed the frame, finishing third in 2:00:339 after a late but honest effort.
With the Ruia Gold Cup decided, attention now turns to the day’s showpiece—The Villoo C. Poonawalla Indian Oaks (Grade I)—set to go off at 4:00 PM, promising another chapter of top-class racing action.
