As the afternoon unfolds over the Mumbai coastline on Sunday, 8 February, the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) will host a well-structured seven-race programme featuring established performers, progressive contenders, and promising three-year-olds across a series of sprint and middle-distance contests.
Racing will commence in the afternoon and will continue through the early evening, with each contest structured to accommodate distinct rating bands and age categories under RWITC conditions.
Proceedings will begin with The Sonny Brar Trophy, a Class II contest for horses rated 60 to 86 over 2000 metres at 2:30 PM, offering total prize money of Rs. 9,00,000.
CONTENDERS – Endurance will be ridden by Yash Narredu. Kimiko will be partnered by C. Umesh. Golden Dancer will be ridden by Akshay Kumar, and Exuma will run under N. S. Parmar.
At 3:00 PM, the programme will move to the Class I Mathradas Goculdas Trophy over 1400 metres, carrying prize money of Rs. 10,00,000.
CONTENDERS – Ataash will be ridden by A. Omkar, Christophany by Akshay Kumar, Market King by Vivek G., Irish Gold by P. Trevor, and Son Of A Gun by A. Prakash.
The third race, The Nadir & Yawar Rashid Trophy, will follow at 3:30 PM over 1400 metres for Class III Indian horses rated 40 to 66, with total prize money of Rs. 6,50,000.
CONTENDERS – Amazing Ruler will be ridden by Amyn Merchant. Axlrod will be partnered by T. S. Jodha and Ashwa Brazil will run under Bharat Singh. Rambler will be ridden by Aditya Waydande. Wind Dancer will be partnered by Akshay Kumar.
At 4:00 PM, the R. M. & Rukmani Goculdas Million will cater to older Class IV Indian horses rated 20 to 46 over 1200 metres, offering prize money of Rs. 10,60,000.
CONTENDERS – The Athabasca will be ridden by N. B. Kuldeep, Escape Velocity by Santosh G., Starseed by P. Trevor, House Of Lords by S. Siddharth, and Majestic Warrior by Bharat Singh.
Attention will then shift to three-year-old maidens in The N. M. Irani Trophy at 4:30 PM over 1200 metres, with prize money of Rs. 12,00,000 attracting interest.
CONTENDERS – Ace In The Field will be ridden by Akshay Kumar, Hermanus by Vivek G., Organised Chaos by Nirmal Jodha, Storm Majesty by P. Trevor, and Janhavi by Mustakim Alam.
The sixth race, The Nawabzada Rashiduzzafar Khan Trophy, scheduled for 5:00 PM over 1600 metres, will carry prize money of Rs. 5,50,000.
CONTENDERS – Treasure Gold will be ridden by A. Omkar, Marius by Kirtish Bhagat, Cornerstone by R. Ajinkya, Esconido by S. Zervan, and Floyd by T. S. Jodha.
The meeting will conclude at 5:30 PM with The S. A. Wahid Plate, a Class V sprint over 1000 metres for horses rated 1 to 26, offering prize money of Rs. 5,00,000.
CONTENDERS – Sentinel will be ridden by Bhawani Singh, Precioso by T. S. Jodha, Viennoise by Vivek G., Rise All Stars by S. G. Prasad, and Samson by A. Prakash.
