Mumbai’s Mahalakshmi Racecourse will stage the third day of the 2025–26 season on Sunday, 7 December, with a compact but engaging six-race afternoon expected to draw a strong crowd. The programme moves steadily from sharp sprints to testing middle-distance contests before closing with a competitive Class V sprint, offering trainers and owners an early window into their horses’ winter form.

The opening race at 2:30pm is the Ibrahim A. Rahimtoola Trophy, a Class IV sprint over 1200 metres for seasoned five-year-olds and upward. A familiar group — Believe, Ariyana Star, Majestic Warrior, Red Merlot, Demetrius, Arbitrage and Maysara — will look to establish early control in what is often a pace-driven opener at this venue.

At 3:00pm, the card moves to the Jayant M. Shah & Champak M. Shah Gold Trophy, a Class III 1400-metre contest featuring Big Bay, Eagle Day, Wind Dancer and Shirsa. The race should favour runners capable of settling early before unleashing a sustained finish.

The tempo rises again at 3:30pm with the Sir Rahimtoola Chinoy Cup, a Class IV mile that brings together Semurg, Giant Gold, Hagibis, Desert Classic, Majesticus, Running Away, Ekatarina and Brasilier. With several horses stepping up in trip, the contest may hinge on tactical positioning and patience in the early stages.

The feature event of the afternoon, the A. C. Ardeshir Trophy (Grade III) at 4:00pm, presents a compelling line-up of three-year-olds over a mile. Santissimo, Psychic Star, Regina Memorabilis, Mojito, Once You Go Black and Pride’s Prince will aim to stake their claims as emerging contenders for the second half of the Mumbai season.

Attention then shifts to the juveniles at 4:30pm in the Prince Karim Aga Khan IV Memorial Trophy, a 1200-metre maiden for two-year-olds. Alexios, Elevate, Ghost of Victory, Invictor, Puccini, Lady Scarlet, Margaretta and Mystica will either launch or progress their early racing careers on a trip that rewards natural pace and early maturity.

The afternoon concludes at 5:00pm with the Samuel Nathan Plate, a Class V 1200-metre sprint featuring You, Sentinel, We Still Believe, Jetfire, Continental Drift and Samson. Older runners with experience at sharp distances often hold an advantage in this closing contest.

A complete six-race programme rounds off a well-balanced Sunday card — a fitting showcase for followers tracking the RWITC’s Mumbai Race Cards 7 December.
