The prestigious and long-established Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) will conduct an eight-race programme at its Mumbai meeting centre on Sunday, 22 February, with The Poonawalla Breeders’ Multi-Million (Grade I) set to headline the afternoon’s proceedings. The meeting will commence at 04:00 PM and will conclude at 07:45 PM, presenting a well-balanced schedule that combines competitive handicaps with a high-value championship event for three-year-olds.
The opening event at 04:00 PM will be The Kumar R. Dalal Gold Trophy, a Class II handicap for horses rated 60 to 86. Run over 1600 metres and offering total prize money of Rs.9,00,000, the race will provide an early examination of quality middle-distance contenders within the higher handicap bracket.
Race 2, The Mystical Trophy, will follow at 04:30 PM. This Class IV handicap for Indian horses rated 20 to 46 will be contested over 2400 metres for a purse of Rs.5,50,000, placing emphasis on stamina and tactical pace management over the extended trip.

The feature event, The Poonawalla Breeders’ Multi-Million (Grade I), will be run at 06:00 PM over 1400 metres for three-year-old Indian horses and will carry a substantial purse of Rs.1,50,00,000. As the centrepiece of the Mumbai programme, it will attract significant attention. The expected line-up will include BUCKINGHAM (Antony Raj S.), ENRICH (Yash Narredu), INVICTOR (David Allan), RAMBO (T. S. Jodha), BLUE JET (Suraj Narredu), LADY SCARLET (P. Trevor), MARGARETTA (Vivek G.), NEBULA (Neeraj Rawal) and QUEEN OF BEAUTIES (Akshay Kumar), forming a competitive and well-matched field befitting the race’s Grade I stature.
Race 6, The Florrie and Freddy Sopher Gold Trophy, will take place at 06:30 PM. The Class III handicap for Indian horses rated 40 to 66 will be contested over 1200 metres for Rs.6,50,000, offering a sharp sprint test for mid-tier performers.
At 07:15 PM, The Corfe Castle Trophy will bring together higher-rated runners in a Class I handicap over 1200 metres with prize money of Rs.10,00,000. The race will assemble seasoned sprinters capable of maintaining strong early fractions.
The meeting will conclude at 07:45 PM with The Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy, a Class V handicap for Indian horses rated 1 to 26 over 1400 metres, offering Rs.5,00,000 in total stakes and drawing the programme to a structured close.
