Seven Races Framed for Mumbai’s Sunday Meeting at Mahalaxmi Racecourse

The Mumbai meeting will frame out a structured seven-race Sunday meeting at the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC), with racing scheduled to run from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The programme will combine sprint and middle-distance contests across Classes I to V, alongside two important races restricted to three-year-old Indian horses, offering a measured test of speed, stamina, and progression.

The Mumbai meeting will distribute prize money ranging from Rs.5,00,000 to Rs.12,00,000, with race distances spanning 1000 metres to 2000 metres.

The card will open at 2:00 PM with The Maharaja Sir Pratapsingh Gaekwad Trophy, a Class III race for Indian Horses rated 40 to 66, run over 1200 metres for a total prize money of Rs.6,50,000. BEE MAGICAL, STORM CLOUD, ASHWA BRAZIL, RAMBLER, and GODDES OF DAWN are set to line up, with the sharp sprint expected to establish the early pace of the afternoon.

At 2:30 PM, The Mulraj Goculdas Trophy will follow, a Class I contest over 1200 metres for horses rated 80 and upward. Carrying a purse of Rs.10,75,000, the race is scheduled to feature MISS AMERICAN PIE, DREAM SELLER, MARKET KING, IRISH GOLD, and TURN AND BURN, marking the highest-rated event on the card.

The middle-distance segment of the programme will begin at 3:00 PM with The Jayaramdas Patel Gold Trophy, a Class III race for Indian Horses rated 40 to 66 over 2000 metres, worth Rs.6,50,000. KIMIKO, BREAK POINT, EXUMA, ENDURANCE, and LOOKING LIKE A WOW are expected to compete, with stamina likely to prove decisive.

At 3:30 PM, attention will turn to younger runners in The P. R. Mehta Trophy, restricted to Indian horses aged three years and run over 1000 metres. The sprint carries a prize fund of Rs.12,00,000, with HIGHLAND SPIRIT, SEQUENTIAL, TURBULENT, BLUE JET, and DREAMS COME TRUE slated to contest the race.

The second three-year-old feature, The Y. M. Chaudhry Memorial Trophy, is scheduled for 4:00 PM. Run over 1400 metres and offering Rs.12,00,000 in prize money, the race is set to include ALPHA STRIKE, ANTINO, INVICTOR, LORENZO, and SILVER DYNAMITE, providing a broader examination of balance and versatility.

At 4:30 PM, The S. M. Shah Salver will cater to lower-rated runners. The Class IV contest for Indian Horses rated 20 to 46 will be run over 1400 metres for Rs.5,50,000, with BELIEVE, ASHWA ALMATY, AGATHA, LUCIO, and BEZALEL declared.

The meeting will conclude at 5:00 PM with The Ferrari Plate, a Class V race for Indian Horses rated 1 to 26 over 2000 metres, carrying a prize fund of Rs.5,00,000. DONATELLA, GOLDEN HEART, BEYOND STARS, YULETIDE, and CHICAGO CHIMES are set to close the Sunday programme.
