The Mumbai meeting at the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) promise an action-packed day of horse racing under the roof of Mahalaxmi Racecourse, highlighted by the prestigious Villoo C. Poonawalla Indian Oaks. Scheduled for 4:00 PM over 2400 meters with a Rs.73,50,000 purse, the Oaks features top four-year-old Indian horses Azalea, Dreamer, Fynbos, and Golden Dancer, making it the standout event of the nine-race card.

The action begins at 1:00 PM with The Isn’t She Special Trophy, a Class III race for horses rated 40 to 66 over 1600 meters. Emperor Roderic, Fortunate Son, and Break Point headline this Rs.6,50,000 contest, offering emerging talent a chance to impress early in the day.

At 1:30 PM, the Potential Champion Trophy (Class I) takes over 1600 meters for horses rated 80 and above. Carrying a Rs.12,00,000 purse, Shubankar, El Greco, and Pride’s Prince bring top-level speed and strategy to the early afternoon program.

The Pleasure Hunt Trophy, a Class II sprint over 1000 meters, follows at 2:00 PM. With Rs.7,50,000 on offer, Fighton, Esperanza, and Cellini promise a fast and tactical contest that will test agility and precision.

At 2:30 PM, the Tricumdas Dwarkadas Trophy Div I (Class IV) runs over 1200 meters for horses rated 20 to 46. El Moran, Medusa, and Juracan take center stage in this Rs.5,50,000 developmental race, providing a platform for promising young talent.

The Gool S. Poonawalla Million (Grade III) follows at 3:00 PM, a 1200-meter sprint exclusively for three-year-old Indian horses. With a Rs.15,00,000 purse, Elevate, Admirable, and Nebula deliver an energetic early-season showdown.

At 3:30 PM, four-year-olds contest the Ramniwas Ramnarain Ruia Gold Cup (Grade III) over 2000 meters. Baychimo, Gunsmoke, and Harrison vie for the Rs.15,00,000 prize in a race demanding both stamina and tactical skill.

The day’s feature event, the Villoo C. Poonawalla Indian Oaks (Grade I), runs at 4:00 PM over 2400 meters. Open to four-year-old Indian horses, it boasts a Rs.73,50,000 purse. Azalea, Dreamer, Fynbos, and Golden Dancer are set to clash in a high-class showdown, making this the pinnacle race of the Mumbai card.

Following the Oaks, the Tricumdas Dwarkadas Trophy Div II (Class IV) runs at 4:30 PM over 1200 meters. Manwar, Appalachian, and Machiavellian compete for Rs.5,50,000, giving trainers another chance to test developing horses.

The card concludes with The Marchetta Trophy, a Class V race over 1400 meters at 5:00 PM. Majorella Blue, Ashwa Ankara, and Madison fight for a Rs.5,00,000 prize, ending a full day of elite and developmental racing at RWITC.
