Morano Delivers a Sprinting Statement in The Turf Hawk Handicap
The second day of the Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) Monsoon Meeting continued to gain momentum as the field assembled for the 1100-meter Turf Hawk Handicap, a dash designed for horses rated 21–46 and carrying a total purse of ₹4,00,000. With each stride, the contest revealed both raw speed and smart tactics, and one horse stood above the rest.
Morano, partnered by the ever-reliable P Trevor, produced an electric finish to seize the race in 1:05.618. The win marked a satisfying result for trainer Aashay Doctor, whose charge never looked under threat in the straight. The ownership group, Mr. C. K. Pasari, Miss D. Pasari representing M/s United Investments, Mr. Chandrakanta Kankaria, Mr. Rajesh Sarda, and M/s. Mukteshwar Racing LLP was well rewarded for their faith in the progressive runner.
Trailing in second was Enola Holmes, guided by Neeraj Rawal for trainer N Darashah, timing 1:06.600, a full second adrift, but gallant in defeat. The final podium spot went to Oishika, ridden by R S Bhati for S S Habbu, who kept pace late to secure third in 1:06.986.
Morano’s triumph adds another highlight to a compelling day of racing at RCTC, where sprinting talent and seasoned riding continue to animate the monsoon meet. Up next, the action shifts to the True Colours Handicap, promising more thrills to come.
