The Longines Global Champions Tour of Mexico City, presented by GNP Mexico Jumping, is set to captivate equestrian fans & world class show jumpers from March 27 to 30 at the iconic Campo Marte. As the only Latin American leg of the prestigious series, this event reinforces Mexico City’s status as a premier destination in the international show jumping circuit.

At the official press conference, event director Francisco Pasquel highlighted the significance of the competition, stating, “We are proud to have made a dream come true. Every year, at the end of the event, I am left in awe, saying: ‘We are taking Mexico… showcasing Mexico as the best event, with the best organizers!’”

Jan Tops, Founder and President of the Longines Global Champions Tour, emphasized the competition’s exceptional atmosphere, describing Mexico City as “one of the most vibrant legs” of the tour, where top-tier sport meets an electric fanbase in a spectacular venue. He also extended gratitude to title sponsor Longines and GNP for their invaluable support in making the event possible.

Among the star riders competing in the LGCT Grand Prix of Mexico City is German contender Katrin Eckermann, a key member of Cannes Stars powered by Iron Dames. She expressed her excitement, saying, “This is my fourth time at the LGCT of Mexico City, and I couldn’t be more excited. The incredible grass arena is truly special, and the fans bring such amazing energy, cheering us on every step of the way.”

The competition field features elite names in show jumping, including Christian Ahlmann, 2024 LGCT Champion Max Kühner, two-time LGCT Champion Edwina Tops-Alexander, Eduardo Alvarez Aznar, and homegrown talents Carlos Hank Guerrio and Fernando Martinez Sommer. Also joining the battle for victory are Simon Delestre and Olivier Philippaerts, who will attempt to follow in his brother Nicola’s footsteps after last year’s LGCT Grand Prix triumph in Mexico City.

The event also showcases world-class horses, with Gilles Thomas arriving with Luna van het Dennehof, the 2024 LGCT Grand Prix of Shanghai winner, and Christian Ahlmann competing aboard Dourkhan Hero Z and Mandato van de Neerheide, both known for their impressive records. Other standout equine stars include Olivier Philippaerts’ H&M Miro, 2024 LGCT Grand Prix of Stockholm winner, and Katrin Eckermann’s Iron Dames Cala Mandia NRW, the reigning LGCT Grand Prix of Miami Beach champion.

Mexico’s Fernando Martinez Sommer, riding Lady van de Haarterhoeve, will look to build on past successes and claim victory on home soil. With over 20,000 spectators expected and live streaming via GCTV, the Longines Global Champions Tour of Mexico City promises an exhilarating weekend of top-tier show jumping, thrilling competition, and an unforgettable showcase of equestrian excellence.
