At Market Rasen Racecourse, a competitive seven-race programme took place on Sunday, 5 July, featuring a balanced card of hurdle races, steeplechases and a concluding National Hunt Flat contest. The meeting attracted a strong mix of experienced campaigners and emerging performers, with several closely contested finishes highlighting the afternoon’s action. Trainers and jockeys from a range of stables shared the honours, while consistent performances across the card ensured an entertaining day’s racing for those in attendance.

Kicking off the afternoon, the Tom Halliday Memorial Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) saw MAKINBECON produce a determined display to score by one length under Callum Pritchard for trainer Barry Murphy and owner Mr A. Evans. ONEINTHEWELL finished a creditable second after keeping the winner under pressure in the closing stages, while LAKEFIELD FLYER stayed on to secure third.

The action gathered momentum in the Malton Marquees Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) (GBB Race), where LITTLE LADY ROCK delivered a polished performance to prevail by 1¼ lengths under Ben Poste for trainer Shaun Lycett and owner Mrs A. Brotherton. BROSNA TOWN filled the runner-up position, with WAY MAKER completing the placings.

Midway through the card, the ECIS Say Yes to Solar Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) went the way of FIDENDUM, who held off the challenge of CROWN OF INDIA to register a three-quarter-length success under Nick Slatter for trainers David Killahena & Graeme McPherson and owner Three Saints One Sinner. GRANNY HAWKINS stayed on for third behind the front pair.

The programme then continued with the Market Rasen Racecourse Caravan Park Handicap Hurdle (Class 5), where MATOURY produced a composed display under William Maggs for trainer Mike Sowersby and owner Mrs J. M. Plummer. STAR VANTAGE chased home the winner in second, while RAMAAH completed the top three.

Feature race honours belonged to REGAL RENAISSANCE, who landed the Summer Jumps Championship Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 3) (GBB Race) by 1¾ lengths. Sean Bowen guided the Jack Jones-trained runner to victory for owners The Mammoth Pack Ltd, with FRINGILL DIKE finishing second and GATEAU DE MIEL taking third.

Attention then shifted to the penultimate contest, the Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 5), where HUCKLEBERRY STING produced another solid performance to score under Jack Andrews for trainer Tom Ellis and owners Babbitt Racing & Watts. GALWAY REEL finished 1¾ lengths behind in second, while FRIENDS DON’T ASK completed the placings.

Bringing the meeting to a close, the Open Maiden National Hunt Flat Race (Class 5) saw PARISIAN FAIR round off the afternoon with a convincing success under Caoilin Quinn for trainers Gary & Josh Moore and owners Jane Davis and Sara Mould. LITAQUE filled the runner-up position, 2½ lengths adrift, while MASTERIUS completed the first three.

The seven-race programme at Market Rasen produced competitive racing from start to finish, with winners emerging across every discipline on the card. REGAL RENAISSANCE delivered the standout performance by landing the feature chase, while the remaining contests highlighted the depth of talent among horses, trainers and jockeys throughout the afternoon. The meeting added another successful chapter to the summer National Hunt season at the Lincolnshire venue.
