The picturesque Market Rasen Racecourse staged a competitive six-race programme on Friday, 12 June, with hurdle and steeple chase contests providing an entertaining afternoon of National Hunt action. Six different horses emerged victorious across the card, while jockey Sean Quinlan enjoyed a particularly productive meeting by partnering two winners. Successes were recorded by Vietnorm, Slack Alice, Get A Superstar, Fringill Dike, Ip Up and Bunker Bay at the well-regarded Lincolnshire venue.

Opening proceedings, the Hayley Middleton Juvenile Hurdle Race (Class 4) (GBB Race) was claimed by Vietnorm, who provided trainer Adrian Keatley and jockey Danny McMenamin with a comfortable success. Racing in the colours of the Keatley Racing Owners Group, the winner travelled strongly before drawing clear to defeat Tiny Riot by 8½ lengths. Cracking Anna stayed on to secure third place behind the front pair.

Further success arrived in the Rase Vets Summer Party Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 5), where Slack Alice produced another decisive performance. Trained by Mickey Bowen and ridden by Sean Bowen for Paul Cairns Racing Limited, the winner finished 6½ lengths ahead of Jessie Jump Jet after asserting superiority in the latter stages. Ramaah completed the placings in third.

The afternoon’s steeple chase action continued with the Rebecca Brooks Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 5), which went the way of Get A Superstar. Trained by Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole and partnered by Charlie Hammond, the Mr J. H. Graham-owned runner recorded a convincing 5½-length victory over Ask A Sainte. Prospect House followed the leading pair home to take third position.

One of the most commanding performances of the meeting came in the Bob and Babs Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 4) (GBB Race). Fringill Dike, representing trainer Jedd O’Keeffe and owners Caron & Paul Chapman, delivered a dominant display under Sean Quinlan. The winner pulled nine lengths clear of King Roly to register the widest margin of victory among the steeple chase contests, while Doyouknowwhatimean filled third place.

A more closely contested affair unfolded in the Rase Veterinary Summer Party Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 4), where Ip Up provided Quinlan and O’Keeffe with a notable double on the card. Running for owner Mr Andy Peake, the winner battled gamely to prevail by half a length over Pigeon House in the tightest finish of the afternoon. Trust House completed the first three home after another creditable effort.

Bringing the programme to a conclusion, Bunker Bay captured the Rase Equine Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 5). Trained by Micky Hammond and ridden by Joshua Thompson for The Golden Cuckoo, the winner produced an impressive performance to finish 11 lengths ahead of Little Ledgend. Estacas secured third place as Bunker Bay completed the meeting in emphatic fashion.

The six-race fixture featured a blend of competitive finishes and authoritative victories, showcasing a variety of performances across both hurdle and steeple chase disciplines. While several runners produced noteworthy displays, the standout achievement belonged to Sean Quinlan, whose victories aboard Fringill Dike and Ip Up ensured he finished the meeting with a memorable riding double.
