The penultimate event of Mysore Summer Races Day 7, The Red Rufus Plate, delivered a strong middle-distance showdown over 1800 metres. Reserved for horses rated 60 and above, the handicap carried a purse of ₹7,00,000.
Magnetic rose to the occasion with a commanding run, stopping the clock at 1:49.396. Piloted by A. Prakash and trained by Darius R Byramji, the winner raced in the silks of Ms. Ameeta Mehra, M/s. Mukul A. Sonawala & Chaduranga Kanthraj Urs, showing class and staying power through the final stages.
Kanya Rashi secured second place with a determined ride by S. Antony Raj for trainer Vinesh V Naik, finishing in 1:50.494. The runner-up stayed in close contention throughout but couldn’t match the winner’s final kick.
Rounding off the top three was Sea The Sun, guided by Abhishek Mhatre for trainer Vishal Yadav, clocking 1:50.575 after a steady effort.
With the Red Rufus Plate concluded in fine style, all eyes now shift to the day’s closing contest, The Talakaveri Plate as Day 7 at the Mysore Race Club builds to an exciting finish.
