The fifth race on Day 4 of the Mysore Summer Races 2025 brought another exciting sprint to the fore as Magical Bay clinched a decisive victory in The Somwarpet Plate Div 1. The 1100-meter handicap for horses rated 20 to 45 was run at 3:30 pm and carried a total prize purse of ₹4,50,000.
Trained by Suraj Prasad Shaw and steered with precision by jockey Aleemuddin, Magical Bay took control in the final stretch and powered away to win with a clocked time of 1:09.105. Representing the ownership interests of Manjri Horse Breed’s Farm Pvt. Ltd. Rep by Mr.Pallon S. Mistry Rapar’s Galloping Stars LLP Rep by Mr.Rajendran, the win further underlined the stable’s fine form this season.
In hot pursuit but unable to match the winner’s late acceleration was Words Worth, guided by S. Imran for trainer Saddam Iqbal, who completed the race in 1:10.396 and had to settle for the runner-up spot.
Cosmic Touch, trained by Monnappa C D and ridden by Shamaz Shareef, rounded off the podium places with a finishing time of 1:10.664, just over a length behind second place.
With five races now concluded, the day’s tempo continues to build toward its later contests. Next on the card is the much-anticipated Chevalier Trophy, where the competition promises to reach another level.
