Lyon-Parilly Shines Amid European Heritage Days Festivities

The LES HIPPODROMES DE LYON welcomed a special afternoon of racing on 21st September 2025, with seven races running from 11:32am to 2:50pm. This meeting coincided with European Heritage Days, when Lyon opens its doors to its architectural, cultural, and historical treasures. The racecourse, nestled in the Parc de Parilly, was part of this celebration- green lawns, grandstands, and racehorses coming together under skies alive with autumn promise. With crowds embracing both the sport and the atmosphere, it felt like more than just another card: there was a sense of local pride in every stride, every finish.

Race 1: Prix Munet (11:32am, 1200 metres)

A lively Class 4 opener set the tone as PRADARO crossed the line in 1.12.98, under a composed ride from jockey AURELIEN LEMAITRE. Trainer MME S. LANSLOTS had everything timed just right, breeder GUY PARIENTE HOLDING saw their work come to fruition, and owner STAL VIE EN ROSE was rewarded for their belief. BURN TO SHINE showed grit to chase into second, while BLU METAL JACKET ITY stayed on well for a worthy third.

Race 2: Prix Christian Rollet (12:02pm, 1600 metres)

The second race delivered more excitement when ROSE PRAIRIE surged late to claim victory in 1.44. 0. Jockey ANTONIO ORANI judged the moment to perfection, trainer J. ANDREU put the finishing touches, breeders T.DE LA HERONNIERE and GESTUT ZUR KUSTE AG had reason to be proud, and owners F.GORGONE, C.BARTOLETTI and L.FARGES shared in the success. SPARKS OF LOVE ran a competitive race, pushing hard to the end, and HABIBA showed resilience to round off the placing.

Race 3: Prix Morel-Journel (12:32pm, 1600 metres)

In the third contest, C’EST VRAI impressed with strength and composure, taking the prize in 1.43.26. The tactic from jockey SYLVAIN RUIS paid dividends, trainer N. PERRET had pinpointed readiness, breeder JC. SEROUL added another feather to their cap, and owner MR JEAN-CLAUDE SEROUL enjoyed a deserved win. LAITH made a solid late effort, and VERSE OF LOVE battled on for third.

Race 4: Prix Black Dancer (1:03pm, 2400 metres)

This one was a close affair, but BELLA REBELLE edged ahead in 2.42.11. Jockey HUGO BOUTIN’s ride was measured, trainer as well as owner MME N. MURE-RAVAUD ensured the horse was in peak order with breeders F. PICARD and MME G. LE GAFFRIC’s stamp of quality showing through. KALAHANI matched strides until late, while ANIMA SANA stayed on with credit.

Race 5: Prix des Traboules (1:40pm, 3150 metres)

Midway through the card, DARLYVI delivered a bold display in 3.41.80. Jockey MARVIN GRANDIN carried momentum smoothly, trainer S. EVENO’s preparation shone through, breeders S. EVENO and JM. VARCIN added to their proud record, and owner MR JEAN-MARC VARCIN had reason to cheer. MATGIWELL kept up the pressure, with WAIT THE STORM completing the frame after a determined run.

Race 6: Prix du Pesage (2:15pm, 1600 metres)

The sixth race brought both stamina and style, with MANDOKI crossing first in 1.46.10. Jockey MAXIME GUYON judged pace expertly, trainer J. ANDREU had the conditioning just right, breeder      F. BAUMANN saw their efforts rewarded, and owner MR JORDAN KHALIFA shared in the triumph. OPERA gave chase until the end, while LOGIS held on well under pressure.

Race 7: Prix du Paddock (2:50pm, 1600 metres)

The finale wrapped the afternoon in fitting fashion as KERNO QUATZ came home in 1.46.80 with strength and poise. Jockey MARVIN GRANDIN delivered when it mattered most, trainer MME M. SCANDELLA-LACAILLE had the plan laid out perfectly, breeder O. QUINIOU enjoyed the success of their work, and owners MME M.BLANC and R.CAPOZZI celebrated a strong closing ride. TOOGOODFORSCHOOL was close behind, and SIMANCAS stayed on gamely to complete the card.

It was a race day that felt truly in tune with Lyon itself- heritage, community and sport all in one. The races at Parilly today weren’t just about winners and times; they were reminders of what local racing can mean: pride, exhilaration, and that shared moment when the final posts fall and everyone holds their breath.
