The racing action at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, May 31, 2025, delivered plenty of excitement, headlined by a breakout performance from Luvumorgan in the $75,000 Game Face Stakes for 3-year-old fillies. With Edgard Zayas in the saddle, the lightly raced filly used a well-timed move to surge past rivals in the homestretch and notch her first stakes win in just her third career start.

Owned by Steven Friedfertig and Shining Stables LLC and bred in partnership with trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., Luvumorgan carries a meaningful name for both connections—honoring Joseph’s wife and Friedfertig’s family history in racing. The daughter of Union Rags showed she was more than just a sentimental favorite, traveling a sharp 6 ½ furlongs in 1:18.85 to win by nearly three lengths. She tracked the early pace set by Unchained Elaine, tucked in behind stablemate Andrea, and then kicked into another gear turning for home.

Andrea held on gamely for second, while favored Win N Your In settled for third, finishing three-quarters of a length behind. Zayas noted the filly’s unexpected speed given her previous success going a mile and a sixteenth, calling her performance “sharp” following a short layoff.

Earlier on the card, the $75,000 Powder Break Stakes saw a wire-to-wire victory from Lets Go Koko, who exploded from the gates under jockey Edwin Gonzalez. Trained and bred by Rory Miller’s Flying Finish Farm Inc., the 4-year-old daughter of Adios Charlie made her intentions known early and never looked back, covering the 1 1/16-mile turf route in a sharp 1:33.51.

Miller expressed full confidence in her front-running style, remarking that he had little doubt she would hold off the challengers once she set the tone early. Dancing N Dixie mounted a late run but couldn’t close the gap, settling for second, with Starship Agenda finishing a solid third. For Lets Go Koko, this win marked her eighth career victory—and her first stakes title—from 22 lifetime starts.

Racing fans also had reason to cheer on the betting front, as Saturday’s 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot was successfully hit for a payout of $143,445.12. The winning ticket nailed the sequence with the numbers 6-5-7-8-8-4, wrapping up a thrilling day of competition and wagering.

The popular multi-race bet will reset on Sunday, with the Rainbow 6 encompassing Races 4 through 9. A key highlight includes Race 7, a 1 1/16-mile starter allowance on the Tapeta surface featuring a showdown between Bobby DiBona’s Nate the Great and Carlos Perez’s Navy Cross. With bettors back in action, anticipation is already building for what’s next at the South Florida track.
