The third race of the Calcutta Races, Monsoon Meeting Tenth Day on Sunday, 28th September 2025, delivered a thrilling spectacle as Lord Vader (J: Hasib Alam, T: B. Mahesh) surged to victory in The Shivalik Showers Cup, a Class III contest for horses rated 41–66, over 1100 meters, run at 01:00 PM at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club. Racing in the silks of owner Mr. Suchit Jayaraj Shah, the seasoned 7-year-old dark bay gelding clocked 1:06.685 to seal the win in commanding style.
Breaking alertly and maintaining a handy position throughout, Lord Vader showcased his veteran poise as the field turned for home. Under a well-timed ride from Hasib Alam, he accelerated strongly in the final furlong to hold off his challengers, demonstrating both resilience and finishing speed that proved decisive in this sprint test.
The runner-up honours went to Sabar (J: K. Nazil, T: Aashay Doctor), who finished close behind in 1:06.905 after mounting a sustained bid down the straight. Dona Sienna (J: Vivek G, T: B. Singh) was not far away in third, clocking 1:06.930, making the top three finishers separated by mere fractions of a second.
