Swiss watchmaker Longines continues to cement its enduring association with the world of horse racing as the official partner and timekeeper of Fashion Friday at Meydan Racecourse, one of the season’s most anticipated events. Set to take place on January 24, this year’s edition promises a spectacle of equine excellence, with a stellar nine-race Dubai Racing Carnival card comprised entirely of Pattern races.

The highlight of the evening is the Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2, a Group 2 contest over 2000 meters on dirt. This pivotal race serves as a critical stepping stone to the Dubai World Cup, attracting top-tier contenders aiming for global glory. Legendary names such as Dubai Millennium and Street Cry have claimed victory in this event, underscoring its significance. In 2023, the Fawzi Nass-trained Salute The Soldier secured his second win in the race, while Doug Watson’s Kabirkhan triumphed in 2024. This year’s edition promises another high-caliber showdown as competitors vie for supremacy on the dirt.

The evening’s other marquee event, the Group 1 Jebel Hatta, unfolds over 1800 meters of turf and serves as a preparatory race for the prestigious Dubai Turf. Last year’s winner, Measured Time, is poised to defend his title in a much-anticipated clash with Hong Kong superstar Romantic Warrior, a horse widely regarded as one of the finest to emerge from the region.

Supporting the headline acts are two Group 2 contests for Thoroughbreds: the Al Fahidi Fort over 1400 meters on turf and the Blue Point Sprint, named after the illustrious sprinter who left an indelible mark on Meydan. Dirt specialists will also have their chance to shine in the Group 3 Firebreak Stakes, while emerging talent takes center stage in the Group 3 UAE 2000 Guineas. The evening is rounded off with the Group 3 Al Shindagha Sprint, run over 1200 meters on dirt, and the Listed Al Khail Trophy, a test of stamina over 2810 meters on turf. The program begins with the Maktoum Challenge Round 2 for Purebred Arabians, a Group 2 event that highlights the diversity of racing at Meydan.

Longines’ role extends beyond timekeeping, with the brand showcasing its dedication to equestrian sports and its hallmark values of precision and elegance. Patrick Aoun, Longines Regional Brand Manager for the Middle East and South East Asia, emphasized the brand’s commitment, stating, “Longines continues to be a steadfast supporter of equestrian sports. Together with top equestrian talent, we uphold our commitment to precision and elegance, strengthening our connection to all levels of horse racing.”

Dubai Racing Club CEO and Board Member HE Ali Al Ali echoed these sentiments, praising Longines for its enduring partnership. “Longines timepieces are synonymous with excellence and beauty, making them the perfect fit for horse racing. Since its inception in 2024, Fashion Friday has been a huge success, attracting some of the best horses in the world and strengthening Dubai’s position as a global hub for winter racing.”

Adding a touch of glamour to the event, Longines will present the Official Watch of the evening – the Mini DolceVita. With its elegant double tour straps and timeless design, the watch epitomizes the brand’s commitment to quiet luxury and sophistication, a fitting tribute to the grandeur of the occasion.

As the clock counts down to the opening race at 5:30 pm, all eyes will be on Meydan Racecourse, where the thrill of world-class racing meets the timeless allure of Longines’ craftsmanship. For tickets and more information, visit www.dubairacingclub.com.
