Loch Lomond wins The Hovercraft Handicap at Madras Races

The Madras Races 2025–26 season at the Madras Race Club rolled on with a closely fought finish in the afternoon’s third contest. The Hovercraft Handicap, for horses rated 40–65, was run over 1400 metres at 3:30 pm and delivered a thrilling result, with Loch Lomond edging out rivals in a tight finish.

Loch Lomond, owned by M/s GMMSR Advisory Services LLP Rep. by Dr M. A. M. R. Muthiah Ramaswamy, Mr Chaduranga Kanthraj Urs, Mr Arjun M. Ranga, Mr T. A. Harshanandana, Mr K. N. Somaiah and Mr M. V. Madhu, was ridden by Darshan N for trainer R. Ramanathan. The winner stopped the clock at 1:26.339, holding on gamely at the wire.

Diamond And Pearls, with Inayat aboard for trainer J. Sebastian, was just a neck behind, timing 1:26.406 for second place. Queen Anula, guided by R. N. Darshan for trainer V. Ajith Kumar, kept on resolutely to take third in 1:26.553, ensuring the placings were decided by fine margins.

With three races now concluded, attention at Guindy turns to the Esquire Handicap, the next test on the day’s programme.
