The sixth day of the Pune Meeting 2025 saw thrilling action in Race 7, The Rotary District 3131 September Handicap, a Class IV contest for three-year-old Indian horses rated 20 to 46, run over 1600 metres on Sunday, 7th September at 4:30 PM. Little John (J: Haridas Gore, T: Dallas Todywalla) delivered a commanding performance, clocking 1:41:596 to claim victory for owners Mr Mukul Sonawala, Mr Nozer Panthaky, Mr Girish S. Mehta, Mr D R Thacker rep. DT Racing Breeders LLP, Mr Dinsha P. Shroff, Mr Kairus Dadachanji, and Mrs Liane Luthria.
From the outset, Little John settled in a prominent position, tracking the leaders and responding beautifully when asked for a final burst of speed in the home straight. Gore timed his challenge perfectly, guiding the colt to a decisive finish that left the field trailing, showcasing both composure and tactical awareness.
PhantasMique (J: C. Umesh, T: Imtiaz A. Sait) fought valiantly for second, finishing just behind the winner in 1:42:142, while Caradoc (J: Aditya Waydande, T: Dallas Todywalla) held on to claim third in 1:42:465. The top three were closely contested, providing an exhilarating spectacle for the Pune crowd.
With Race 7 concluded, attention now turns to the Spearhead Plate, set for 5:00 PM, promising more competitive action as the Pune Meeting continues to showcase the best of Indian thoroughbred racing.
