Listowel Racecourse will host a seven-race National Hunt programme on Sunday, 20 September 2026, with the afternoon’s action set to begin at 2:18 PM and continue through to 5:18 PM. The card will offer a varied mix of hurdle, steeplechase and Flat contests, with prize money ranging from €14,000 to €45,000. The Kinisla Handicap Steeplechase will provide the main feature of the meeting, with the €45,000 contest set to carry the highest prize fund on the programme.
The meeting will begin with The Kinisla Charleville Cheese 3-Y-O Hurdle at 2:18 PM. The €15,000 contest will be run over two miles and will provide the opening test for the three-year-old hurdlers. The race will get the afternoon underway before the programme moves into a series of longer hurdle events.
The second race will be The Kinisla Cheestrings Irish EBF Mares Hurdle, scheduled for 2:48 PM. The contest will carry €19,500 in prize money and will be run over two miles and four furlongs. The longer distance will provide a different challenge from the opening race, with the field set to face a more demanding test over the extended hurdle trip.
The third race will be The Kinisla Bloom Feeds Irish EBF Mares Handicap Hurdle at 3:18 PM. The €17,500 contest will cover two miles, two furlongs and 100 yards. It will provide another opportunity for mares to compete over hurdles, with the handicap format adding a different dimension to the afternoon’s programme.
The fourth race will bring another stamina test with The Kinisla Dairygold Maiden Hurdle. Due off at 3:48 PM, the €15,000 race will be run over two miles and six furlongs. The extended distance will make this one of the longer hurdle contests on the card and will add further variety to the Listowel programme.
Attention will then turn towards the steeplechases, beginning with The Kinisla Kerrymaid Rated Novice Steeplechase at 4:18 PM. The race will carry €20,000 and will be contested over two miles, one furlong and 150 yards. It will provide the novice chasers with their opportunity to compete on the card before the main feature arrives.
The sixth race will be the highlight of the afternoon as The Kinisla Handicap Steeplechase will take centre stage at 4:48 PM. The €45,000 contest will carry the biggest prize fund of the meeting and will be run over two miles, one furlong and 150 yards. As the most valuable race on the programme, it will form the central feature of the seven-race card and will provide one of the afternoon’s key steeplechase tests.
The final race will be The Kinisla Farm & Home Store (Pro/Am) Flat Race at 5:18 PM. The €14,000 contest will cover two miles and will have a maximum field size of 18. It will bring the afternoon’s programme to a close after the earlier hurdle and steeplechase events.
Across the seven races, the Listowel meeting will cover distances from two miles to two miles and six furlongs, giving the card a broad range of tests. The opening three races will focus on hurdle action, while the fourth will provide another longer-distance hurdle contest before the programme moves into the steeplechase section.
The Kinisla Handicap Steeplechase will stand out as the meeting’s principal feature because of its €45,000 prize fund. It will follow The Kinisla Kerrymaid Rated Novice Steeplechase and will precede the concluding Pro/Am Flat Race, giving the afternoon a clear build-up towards its most valuable contest.
With seven races scheduled across three hours, Listowel Racecourse will provide a full afternoon of racing on Sunday. The combination of three-year-old and mares’ hurdle contests, handicap and maiden events, novice and handicap steeplechases, and a final Flat Race will create a varied programme for the meeting.
The Listowel Racecards 20 September will feature seven races, with The Kinisla Handicap Steeplechase carrying the meeting’s highest prize of €45,000.
